Fearless Films
Fearless Films
Fearless Films Podcast is a weekly show where we walk through horror movies, breaking down the beats, discussing the lore and interesting trivia of all the best (and worst) in the horror movie genre. The show started as Pete, the horror buff, explaining the plots of horror movies to Kevin, the scaredy cat, who hates being scared but is intrigued by these modern mythologies.
Kevin eventually retired from the podcast, but the show goes on! Pete is now joined by Sarah, who also loves horror movies, and they continue the tradition of explaining the scariest stories to all the scaredy cats out there, so they don't have to watch the movies.

164 - Jigsaw and Spiral
Fearless Films
10/31/23 • 76 min
We finally made it to the end! Welcome to the final episode (for now) on the Saw franchise. This week we cover the two "spinoff" films:
Jigsaw - A new game has begun, and forensic evidence somehow points to the long dead John Kramer. Has he truly risen from the grave? Or has someone new taken on the mantle of the Jigsaw killer? Seeing as how the rest of the series plays it pretty grounded, you can probably figure it out.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw - This one acts more like a true spinoff. Chris Rock is a cop investigating a series of murders (all of members of the police) that appear to be paying homage to the long dead Jigsaw killer. This movie doesn't play with expectations, it is definitely about a copycat killer. The mystery is all about their motivations and their identity.
Join us as we pick apart these two entries that both Sarah and Pete dislike... strongly! Can we survive to the end of these breakdowns? Or are we going to go as mad as Jigsaw by the end of the episode? Join us and find out. And remember: don't get too scared!

The fun never stops, especially in October! This week, the penultimate episode in our Saw franchise breakdown!
First up is part 6: The trap involves an insurance man having to "balance the equation" on multiple lives, and hoping to survive his final test. Meanwhile, secret apprentice Hoffman is desperately trying to stay ahead of the investigators who are trying to uncover his identity. He goes on a rampage to keep his spot as the gamemaster, but outside forces are working against him.
Then, its part 7: The original "Final Chapter" in the Saw franchise (we all know how that goes). A man gets rich after claiming to be a Jigsaw survivor and writing a book about his "experience". Hoffman puts his biggest test yet into motion. A mysterious figure from the past makes moves to put a stop to both of these men. Who will be left standing at the end? Who will get the Game Over?
Join us as we dig through the messiest of the Saw films, talk about overly drawn out storylines, and break down the many horror tropes employed by part 7. And as always: don't get too scared!

Episode 158 - Disturbing Behavior
Fearless Films
08/16/23 • 79 min
This week on Fearless Films, in celebration of the start of the school year, we are talking about the late 90's teen horror flick, Disturbing Behavior.
Pete breaks down this story of a boy and his family moving to a small island town in Washington state. He quickly discovers that something isn't quite right with the popular kids at the high school. He goes on to uncover a conspiracy to "make the kids better" through nefarious means. Only him and his misfit friends can save the town (or burn it all down)!
Sarah reacts to the fact that this is basically just an extended episode of the X-Files (featuring key players from the show both in front of and behind the camera), the hilariously bad "slang" used by the teenage characters, and the outdated depictions of... well, just about everything.
She also gets concerned about Pete's blood pressure, when he begins to rant and rave about the horrors of studio interference. Prepare yourselves for a deep dive on the behind the scenes story of this film, and how test screenings and meddling producers took a great script and turned it into a mediocre Scream knockoff.
Grab a seat, open your notebooks and remember: don't get too scared!

Episode 157 - The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Fearless Films
08/16/23 • 53 min
This week on Fearless Films, we present a spooky tale of forensic science, 2016's The Autopsy of Jane Doe!
Sarah breaks down this story of a father/son team of coroners who are delivered the body of a young woman who is dead, but has no apparent signs of how she died. As you would expect, unexplainable, haunting-like phenomena begins to occur, and the characters lives are quickly in danger.
Highlights include Pete's reaction to the characters decision to never leave, his fear over the fate of the pet cat, and lessons in history and botany. Also, of course, the very graphic autopsy of a dead body that rivals even Saw 3.
Join us for this scary medical procedure, and remember: don't get too scared!

Episode 156 - Wolf Creek
Fearless Films
08/14/23 • 50 min
This week on Fearless Films, we take a road trip through Australia and end up in the most dangerous place in the Outback: Wolf Creek!
This stranger-danger horror film from 2005 features a group of backpackers falling prey to a serial killer outdoorsman who just wants to have a good time.
Pete lays out the plot for this movie he has just watched for the first time. To his surprise, it is an early 2000's torture porn film that he actually enjoyed!
Sarah is shocked by this revelation, and also by the horrors that unfold in this adrenaline pumping tale of survival.
Join us as we uncover just what makes this movie so special that Pete actually enjoyed a 2000's flick. And as always, don't get too scared...

165 - The Woman in Black
Fearless Films
11/07/23 • 49 min
It's special guest season on Fearless Films, and this week we are kicking it off when Pete's wife, Cheryl, talks to us about one of her favorite horror films of all time: The Woman in Black!
It tells the tale of a turn of the century English solicitor, still suffering the grief of losing his wife to a tragic accident, having to leave his very young son to take a job in the countryside. He is settling the paperwork of an old estate, an isolated house on a patch of land that gets swallowed up by the sea at high tide. There, he finds a tortured spirit haunting the house, and a town full of people that are trying to drive him out, lest he stir the malevolent apparition.
Join us as we discuss what makes a truly great ghost story, what are the best-sounding English names, and whether the movie or its source novel has the more depressing ending.
And as always, don't get too scared!
