Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know anonymous U.K. street artist Beyond B3. In this episode, we chat about why he decided to become a street artist, and where the pseudonym comes from. We discuss some of his influences like: Stic, Space Invader, and Banksy. Along the way, I find out that I may very well be the last person to find out that Stic and Banksy are no longer anonymous! This London area based graffiti artist has very intense messaging behind his artwork. B3 explains to me the meanings behind some of his pieces. From Everyday Robots & technology, to Attack Robots & War, to Pigeons with knives & Knife Crime; B3 clarifies it all. We talk about why he feels the need to address some of these subjects, and what he hopes to gain from doing so, While we are talking about his inspirations, I tell a story about the time I saw a Banksy in person. This leads to him explaining to me that both Stic & Banksy are known people! They are no longer anonymous! Anyway, make sure you check out Beyond B3 on Instagram so you can see some of his work. Unless you are located in the London area, in which case... SEND ME PICS! Beyond B3's work focuses on: Technology, War, Child Soldiers, Crime, Knife Crime, Hypnosis, and more!

Fascination Street
02/12/24 • 57 min
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Sam Lachow. Sam is a rapper based in Seattle, who was brought to my attention by previous guest John Sylvain. In this episode, Sam and I chat about how he came to be a rapper / hip hop musician; even though he grew up in Seattle, known for it's grunge style of music. Then we get into sobriety. Sam is very open and honest, and even vulnerable when it comes to the reasons he got sober. He shares some of his fears about the possibility of losing his creative passion, and talent without the use of drugs and alcohol. He even shares a bizarre story about having to call the treatment center every day at 8am, just to see if there was an available bed yet. Then we jump right into how much I enjoy his music. We get very deep into some specific songs of his, that I love. He lets me play my favorite of his songs, and he clues me into the meaning behind some of the lyrics. The day we recorded this; he released a new single called "I Might", and he is gracious enough to let me play it in this episode as well. Sam lays out his plans to release a new single every month of this year, culminating in two new albums. This conversation gets pretty deep with regard to drug and alcohol use, as well as why he decided to seek treatment. He openly discusses some of the consequences he was facing during that time, and what he sees for himself going forward; both personally, and professionally. I had a great time speaking with Sam, and look to have him back on at some point.

Jeremy Swift - Musician / Actor (Ted Lasso / Downton Abbey)
Fascination Street
09/25/23 • 57 min
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Jeremy Swift. You may know Jeremy from Downton Abbey, Apple TV's Ted Lasso, or the Wachowski Siblings' epic Jupiter Ascending. But you may not know that Jeremy is arguably a more talented musician, than he is an actor.
Just kidding. He is superb in both endeavors!
In this episode, we chat about how he came to be an actor, and some of his first roles. I mean he toured with a cabaret troupe that played shows in various prisons! Holy Moly! Of course, we discuss some of his experiences on the previously listed projects, and a couple of others. I ask him what it is like to work with his wife on set, and he spills the beans on Ted Lasso season 4!
Jeremy also shares the story of why he chose to get his Sag / Aftra card, and his upcoming film: "Descendants 4: The Rise of Red".
Next we get into music. Jeremy started playing music at a very early age, and we definitely dive into that aspect of his creativity. Jeremy shares stories of his punk phase, seeing The Sex Pistols live, and his thoughts on the "Oi!" movement of the late 70's. Jeremy has a new album out called "Songs of Escape and Endless Night", which is catchy as hell. We discuss a couple of the tracks from that album, and he lets me play my favorite song from it. Jeremy shares his love for David Bowie, building synthesizers with his dad, and Christo Fernandez working on Jeremy's new album.

In this episode, we chat about the experiences Greg had with his grandparents, growing up, that made him want to start a podcast dedicated to grandfathers. We exchange stories about our respective grandparents, and we discuss what drew Greg to podcasting in general. All along the way, we trade stories about podcasting, getting older, who this book & podcast are for, and of course, grandparents!
