The 1975 - Matt Healy (2016)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
08/20/20 • 18 min
Another one of my favorites from back in 2016. Matt is such a charismatic and intelligent talker and his openness about not only the music but how he perceives things in the world and his own emotions and feelings is really engaging. Oh, and the music isn't too bad either! We spoke about self-acceptance, not having one particular sound, music as catharsis, his appreciation for fans, and a lot more!

YUNGBLUD (2018)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
04/10/20 • 21 min
In early 2018 Dominic Richard Harrison, aka YUNGBLUD, was in Amsterdam and our Brazillian colleague Joao Perassolo caught up with him and spoke about his musical upbringing, not being afraid to speak out, Polygraph Eyes, rock 'n roll getting a bit boring, and a lot more! His usual infectious energy makes for both a interesting and fun, but above all honest, conversation.

Damien Jurado (2020)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
04/28/20 • 30 min
Although being a self-proclaimed introvert this interview with American singer-songwriter Damien Jurado was one of those conversations that felt very natural from the beginning. We spoke about his upcoming record What's New Tomboy, how he writes his songs, his friendship with producer Richard Swift who sadly recently passed away, and a memory of Bo Diddley's Oh Yeah, among other things.

Graham Nash (2016)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
06/23/20 • 23 min
Back in 2016 we sat down with Graham Nash, who 's been making a name for himself for several decadec, first with The Hollies, and later with CSNY and his solo work. The occasion was the release of his solo album This Path Tonight, but the conversation quickly veered off into other topics as well, like songwriting, his divorce and finding new love, the rise of Donald Trump, his relationship with David Crosby and why CSNY broke up, among other things. There are several moments where Nash is passionate and raw in his answers, showing he hasn't missed a step since when he first started.

FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music

We were extremely lucky and glad to have Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee sit down with us to talk about their upcoming album The Bitter Truth and a lot more. Right from the start the conversation flowed naturally from why it is important to vote and having your voice be heard, to how the sound of the band has evolved to where it is now. We also spoke about continuously striving to be your true self, dealing with these dire times, what to expect from the upcoming album.

Burmudian singer-songwriter Heather Nova has been releasing music for well over 25 years, and the passion and fervor with which she approaches her music to this day is inspiring to see. We spoke about her album Pearl (2019) and what songwriting means to her, but also on a more personal level about going through a divorce, her relationship with nature, and how topics like these find a way into her music.

Roxette - Per Gessle (2018)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
04/10/20 • 28 min
It was such a treat to sit down with one half of Swedish powerhouse Roxette: Per Gessle. Having been responsible for some of the most iconic songs of the late 80s/early 90s on their hit albums Look Sharp! and Joyride, Per had more than his share of insight into the music industry and how they fared in it. We spoke about his early influences, sudden international success, the arrival of grunge music and how it affected his musical identity, Marie not being able to tour anymore, what he is working on these days, and a lot more. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did!

Steve Lukather (2021)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
03/02/21 • 41 min
In our first interview in 2010 Steve Lukather spoke with no strings attached. And honest and outspoken he has been in every FaceCulture interview since then! With his new record 'I Found the Sun' out it was time to sit down with Steve once more. We spoke about everything from his time in Toto, to his admiration for George Harrison, getting anger out through music, a darker period and how he got sober, playing with Paul McCartney, trying to capture a "real" performance on his new record, and a lot more!

Jeff Tweedy (2021)
FaceCulture: Giving You The People Behind The Music
01/26/21 • 35 min
Jeff Tweedy, known for his work with the widely acclaimed alternative rock band Wilco, is one of those artists for whom songwriting seems easy. He even wrote a book called 'How to write one song' that appeared just last October. Unsurprisingly then, it was an absolute privilege to be able to pick his brain a bit about creativity and the songwriting as we discussed his latest album Love Is The King. We also spoke about how he deals with doubt, discovery through songwriting, punk and country music, being creative in times of social isolation, and a lot more!
