Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

We started Eye Know to bring clarity to the world of laser and cataract surgery. Patients often come in with confusion, fear, or misinformation — and we wanted to create a space to share honest, in-depth conversations from the surgeons themselves. Whether you’re exploring your options or just curious about how your eyes work, this show helps you understand your vision — and your choices — more clearly.

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

We hope listeners walk away with a deeper understanding of how vision correction works, what their options are, and what questions to ask when considering surgery. By hearing directly from experienced surgeons, we aim to demystify the process, correct common misconceptions, and empower people to make informed decisions about their eye health with clarity and confidence.

Which episode should someone start with?

Start with Episode 1 — it’s a deep dive into cataract and laser eye surgery, with insights on when surgery is needed, what options exist, and why we don’t offer laser-assisted cataract surgery. It’s the perfect intro to our approach, our values, and what sets Lumea apart. Whether you're new to eye surgery or considering a procedure, it’s a great foundation.

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

Our favourite so far is Episode 1 — it covers so much: cataracts, laser vision correction, LAL, SMILE, and even eye colour-changing technology. It’s an honest, in-depth conversation with two of Canada’s top surgeons, and really captures what the podcast is about: making complex topics clear, engaging, and useful for anyone curious about their vision.

Which episode are you most proud of?

We’re most proud of Episode 1 — it set the tone for everything we want Eye Know to be. It’s honest, informative, and packed with insights from Dr. Khan and Dr. Sanghera on everything from cataracts to the latest in laser eye surgery. It’s the kind of conversation we wish every patient could hear before making a decision about their vision.

What is your vision for your show?

Our vision is to create a trusted space where patients, peers, and the simply curious can learn about the science, technology, and humanity behind modern eye surgery. We want to break down complex topics, challenge industry myths, and share real insights from surgeons — all to help people feel more informed, empowered, and confident in their vision decisions.

What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?

Two of our favourites are Huberman Lab and Andy Galpin’s Perform — both do an incredible job of breaking down complex science in a way that’s informative, engaging, and grounded in real-world application. We really admire their ability to make research-based content accessible without losing depth — something we aim to do with Eye Know in the world of eye care.

How did you come up with the name for your podcast?

We wanted something that felt both smart and approachable — a name that hints at clarity, insight, and curiosity. Eye Know plays on the double meaning: it’s about eye care, but it’s also about knowledge. The goal was to make complex topics feel understandable and relatable, and the name reflects that spirit of learning and empowerment.

Tell us a bit about yourself

Dr. Baseer Khan and Dr. Paul Sanghera are two of Canada’s leading cataract and refractive surgeons, with over 100,000 procedures between them. They’re innovators in technologies like the Light Adjustable Lens, SMILE, and ICL, and are passionate about patient education. Through Eye Know, they bring honest, insightful conversations to help listeners better understand their vision and surgical options.
