Max Freedom Long, through his research and experiences, identified several core principles or "laws" that he believed underpinned the Huna philosophy. While these laws are not part of traditional Native Hawaiian teachings, they have gained recognition and resonance among certain individuals and communities.

The three core laws of Huna are:

Unlocking the Power Within: Exploring the Huna Principles of Energy, Connection, and Belief
Have you ever wondered about the hidden forces that shape our reality? The Huna principles offer profound insights into the power of energy, connection, and belief, providing a unique perspective on how we can unlock our true potential and create positive changes in our lives.
At its core, Huna is an ancient Hawaiian philosophy that recognizes the interplay between the physical and spiritual realms. It offers a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and the influence of our thoughts and intentions on our experiences. By tapping into the Huna principles, we can harness the power of energy, cultivate meaningful connections, and shape our beliefs to manifest our desires.
The first principle, the Law of Energy, acknowledges that everything in the universe is made up of energy. Huna teaches us that our thoughts and emotions emit vibrations that interact with the energy around us, shaping our experiences. By becoming aware of our energy and consciously directing it towards positive intentions, we can attract abundance, harmony, and well-being into our lives.
The second principle, the Law of Connection, emphasizes the interconnection of all beings and the web of relationships that we are part of. Huna teaches us that we are not isolated individuals but rather integral parts of a greater whole. By nurturing authentic connections with ourselves, others, and the natural world, we can tap into a profound sense of unity and support.
The third principle, the Law of Belief, recognizes the power of our beliefs in shaping our reality. Huna teaches us that our beliefs act as filters through which we perceive and interpret the world. By examining and transforming limiting beliefs, we can open ourselves up to new possibilities and align our conscious and subconscious minds to create positive change.
Exploring the Huna principles offers a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment. By understanding the laws of energy, connection, and belief, we can consciously navigate the currents of life and shape our experiences according to our deepest desires.

The ocean, with its vastness and enigmatic depths, holds secrets that continue to captivate scientists and nature enthusiasts alike. In this blog post, we delve into the interconnectedness of various topics, ranging from the marvels of photosynthesis to the wisdom encapsulated in the ancient Hawaiian creation chant, the Kumulipo. Join us as we explore the fascinating world beneath the waves and unravel the hidden mysteries that connect us to the ocean and its abundant life forms.
Photosynthesis: The Sunlit Energy Conversion
Photosynthesis, a remarkable process utilized by plants, transforms sunlight into usable energy. Through the power of chlorophyll in their chloroplasts, plants capture sunlight and convert it into chemical energy in the form of ATP and NADPH. This energy is then utilized in the Calvin cycle to convert carbon dioxide into glucose, providing the essential fuel for plant growth and vitality.
The Kumulipo: Weaving the Tapestry of Life
The Kumulipo, an ancient Hawaiian creation chant, is a rich tapestry of knowledge that weaves together the origins and interconnectedness of all life forms. Its principles align with the timeline of Earth's history, including the emergence of marine invertebrates and shell-bearing animals during the Cambrian period. The Kumulipo's themes of unity and evolution resonate with the development of diverse marine life forms, highlighting the significance of diversity and the intricate web of life in shaping the marine ecosystem.
Energizing the Ocean: The Power of Light
The ocean, a vast reservoir of natural energy, is charged with vitality through various mechanisms. Solar energy warms the ocean's surface, while temperature differences create thermal energy gradients and generate ocean currents. Wind transfers its kinetic energy to the water, forming waves, while gravitational forces from the moon and the sun cause tides. Geothermal activity and biological processes also contribute to the ocean's energy balance, supporting the intricate dynamics of marine ecosystems.
Pleiades: Celestial Guides and Cultural Significance
The Pleiades, also known as Makali'i in Hawaiian culture, hold significant importance in Hawaiian traditions. These stars served as celestial guides for ancient Polynesian voyagers and are associated with agricultural activities, marking the beginning of the harvest season. The Pleiades' visibility or invisibility helps determine seasonal changes in Hawaii. With mythological connections to goddess Hina and demigod Maui, the Pleiades are honored through cultural festivals and ceremonies, such as the Makahiki festival.
As we reflect on the wonders of the ocean, from the intricate process of photosynthesis to the wisdom embedded in the Kumulipo and the cultural significance of the Pleiades, we begin to grasp the profound interconnectedness of our world. The ocean, with its vast energy and biodiversity, continues to inspire and amaze us. Let us embrace the importance of preserving and understanding these precious ecosystems, and recognize our role as stewards of the ocean's treasures. Through ongoing exploration and appreciation, we can deepen our connection to the ocean and ensure its vitality for generations to come.

Explore Maui - The Legend Unveiled: How Māui Slows the Sun
play

11/20/22 • 6 min

In the realm of Hawaiian folklore, the legend of Māui holds a special place. Among the many tales surrounding this mythical figure, one story stands out—the daring feat of Māui snaring the Sun. This captivating legend unveils Māui's compassionate nature and his extraordinary quest to bring relief to his mother, Hina. Join us as we delve into the enchanting tale of how Māui slowed the Sun and gifted the world with longer days.
The Plight of Hina:
Hina, the mother of Māui, lived in Makalia, above Kahakuloa on West Maui. She was skilled in making kapas, but her labor was intensified by the shortness of the days. Each day, Hina struggled to hang the kapas out to dry, only to face the setting sun, forcing her to take them back in. Witnessing his mother's endless toil, Māui's heart overflowed with empathy, and he resolved to intervene.
Māui's Cunning Plan:
Driven by compassion, Māui devised a plan to slow down the Sun's journey across the sky. Crafting a powerful snare from coconut fiber and employing his incredible strength and cunning, he ventured to the eastern edge of the island. There, hidden among the cliffs, he skillfully set his trap, ready to ensnare the Sun on its morning ascent.
The Triumph and the Extended Day:
As the Sun rose, it soon became ensnared in Māui's trap, caught by the intricate craftsmanship of the snare. With the Sun captured, the world bathed in its gentle warmth for an extended period. The days lengthened, providing Hina and all the people of the land with ample time to accomplish their tasks without the rush of shortened daylight.
Legacy and Lessons:
The legend of Māui slowing the Sun transcends its mythical origins, offering profound insights into the values and aspirations of the Hawaiian culture. Māui's act of compassion for his mother and his determination to alleviate her burden symbolize the importance of empathy and selflessness within Hawaiian society. The legend also reminds us of the interconnectedness between humans and nature, highlighting the profound influence that individuals can have in shaping the world around them.
The legend of Māui snaring the Sun is a testament to the enduring power of compassion and the indomitable spirit of the Hawaiian people. Māui's remarkable feat not only bestowed longer days upon the world but also serves as a timeless reminder of the significance of empathy, resourcefulness, and the enduring bond between humans and nature. Let us continue to honor this captivating legend, cherishing its wisdom and embracing the spirit of Māui's remarkable journey.
(Note: The legend of Māui holds cultural significance for the Hawaiian people. It is important to approach and share the story with respect for the cultural traditions and heritage of Hawai'i.)
