In This Episode:

Welcome to Black History Month!

Usually what people celebrate during this period are the achievements of African-Americans after the slave trade, or how they persevered through slavery.

However, a lot of people do not know about the great things and great people that lived in Africa before the slave trade.

So in honor of this year's celebration, we have decided to take you back in time to the days before slavery. The days of the African Kings and Queens, the Black History we should never forget to celebrate as well.

Excuse My African - EP 42 - Not All African Immigrants Are Illegal
play

09/07/18 • 5 min

In This Episode: I was absolutely shocked by an article I read on Flipboard, and I just had to share it with you all. NOT ALL AFRICAN IMMIGRANTS ARE ILLEGAL !!! It is wrong to assume that any African you speak to, is an illegal immigrant. Not all Africans aim to make you fall in love with them so that they can marry you for a green card. There are very many legal, educated and hardworking Africans, living in the USA. Mentioned In This Episode: 1. CODE 55 Store: https://www.code55store.com 2. Flipboard: https://flipboard.com/ 3. Excuse My African - EP 41 - Raising Confident Kids
play

08/31/18 • 6 min

In This Episode: These days it seems as if the world is getting a little too ‘in their feelings’. I was watching the news a few weeks ago, and they were talking about a lady who was pissed that even though her kids didn’t make it to the top 3 in a competition, they didn’t get trophies. So she decided to buy trophies for them by herself. It got me thinking, are we (especially the people outside Africa) raising our kids to be too emotional? Are we raising them to be able to handle the real world? I don’t know about you, but I will raise my kids in the African way. To be confident in themselves whether they win or not, and to learn to work harder to achieve their goals; instead of rewarding them when they really do not deserve it. Mentioned In This Episode: 1. Excuse My African - EP 39 - Should I Say Sorry?
play

08/03/18 • 7 min

In This Episode: In Africa, saying sorry to people is a normal thing. We say sorry when we do something wrong but we also say sorry to show compassion and sympathy. It's a part of who we are. However, after some years of living in America, I was shocked to realize that 'sorry' to people here means a whole other thing! In This Episode:

2020 has been one heck of a year, and Africa is one continent that felt the brunt of it. From the pandemic to genocides, massacres, poverty, hunger, and a lot more.

The beautiful continent of Africa has been in crisis, and it's significantly due to bad governance. I feel that we Africans, especially us in the diaspora, should come together to find a solution. How can we join forces with our brothers and sisters in Africa to build our continent back to greatness?

Excuse My African - EP 86 - Dehumanizing Women In Africa
play

05/07/21 • 11 min

In This Episode:

For the longest time, women have been treated poorly around the world, but especially in Africa. A lot of us have been fighting for the rights of WOMEN in Africa for decades. However, at the time, advocacy wasn't an 'in thing.' We were insulted and referred to as what is known as 'clout chasers.'

Now, advocacy seems to be an in, and every other day there is a new hashtag. While this is great, because the louder the voice, the better, we need to make sure that we are not just making noise and chasing our tails. We need to change tactics and look inward; change will begin with society first.

Excuse My African - EP 11 - The African Natural Life
play

11/10/17 • 14 min

In This Episode:

My grandfather lived to be over 100 years old. I always wondered how he made it so far, until one day it hit me. Even in his 80’s and 90’s he would go all the way to his farm to get fresh ingredients to cook.
He never used a microwave or ate canned or processed foods. He and my grandmother always turned to natural remedies when they were ill, which they rarely were.

My grandparents were all about the ‘organic life’. Isn’t it funny how the world is coming back to this lifestyle? Organic foods, Natural Hair, Natural Remedies.

The world is gradually returning to 'The African Natural Life’.
