Evil Pudding : A True Crime Podcast - Evil Pudding Episode 33 -A Case of Satanic Panic; Thomas Jr. & Betty Ann Sullivan
play

09/18/22 • 83 min

January of 1988, in the close-knit community of Jefferson Township, NJ, Thomas Sullivan Sr. woke up to a fire in his home and his wife and oldest son nowhere to be found. Betty Ann Sullivan would later be found dead in her basement. She had been bludgeoned, stabbed and her eyes removed. The following day, 14 year old Thomas Sullivan Jr.’s body was discovered outside of a neighbor’s house. He had “allegedly” taken his own life by mutilating his wrist before nearly decapitating himself. A suicide note would reveal that Tommy had been involved in Satanism and the occult which, in turn, fueled the fires of the Satanic Panic. Officially ruled a murder/suicide, is this case really solved? Join us today as we take a look at this case and try to make some sense of this horrific tragedy. https://uppbeat.io/t/pecan-pie/creepy License code: EBBRRGVUUHB09JUK

January 7th, 2007, a train engineer driving by the train tracks in East Knoxville, TN, found the still smoldering human remains of 23 year old Christopher Newsom. The young man had met a horrific and brutal end. Two days later, Knoxville PD would receive a tip that a group of criminals are hiding out in a rundown house on Chipman Street, just blocks away from where Newsom’s body was discovered. In that house, in a tall trash can in the corner of a filthy kitchen, Chris Newsom’s 21 year old girlfriend, Channon Christian’s body was discovered. The couple had met the most grizzly end I have ever encountered as a true crime researcher.

If you know anything about this case, you know that it is one of the most horrific out there. That said, Trigger Warning! Please listen with caution.

However, what sticks more so than the heinous details of what these two wonderful young adults endured, is the love that their families have for them. So although this is going to be a tough case to get through, we have to say that both the Newsom and Christian families are so very inspiring and I encourage you to stick around until the end to hear more about them and all they do to keep their children’s memory alive.

So without further ado, let’s get into the case of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom.

Evil Pudding : A True Crime Podcast - Evil Pudding Episode 34 - Born to Raise Hell; The Murderous Rampage Richard Speck
play

10/02/22 • 122 min

July 13th, 1966, Richard Speck slithered his way into a Chicago townhouse that served as a dormitory for student nurses. On this night, Richard would kill 8 young women, leading them 1 by 1, as Richard would later say, like “lambs to the slaughter”. We know the details of this horrific night because there was someone at the crime scene who witnessed the horror he inflicted firsthand. A survivor. A young woman who would’ve been Speck’s 9th victim, but instead she would play a key role in making sure this vile, murderous man would never kill again by identifying him, right down to the memorable tattoo etched into his forearm that read “Born to Raise Hell”. And raise hell, he did! So today my friends, we are taking a deep look into what shaped notorious mass murderer Richard Speck and the events that transpired in his life leading up to that bloody night.

When a Stranger Calls: The Unsolved Murder of Janett Christman Happy Halloween, Pudding Pod Fam! Have you ever watched the thriller movie ‘When a Stranger Calls’? The premise is a young babysitter is in a home with sleeping children and a strange man keeps calling asking her, “Have you checked the children” ...before hanging up. Frightened, the babysitter calls the police who instruct her to try to keep the stranger on the phone for longer so they can get a trace on the number. The babysitter then receives one final call from the stranger asking if she has checked the children. She tries to keep him on the line a bit longer this time. Immediately after the stranger hangs up the phone rings once more. It’s the police. They inform her that the call is coming from...INSIDE THE HOUSE. After watching this movie, we started to wonder where the idea of “the call is coming from inside the house” came from. So, we did a little snooping around and found the horrifying inspiration behind these thrilling films...and although the story is a bit different since Hollywood tends to take liberties to entertain consumers, it is a terrifying story, nonetheless. Today my friends, we will be speaking about the case that inspired the movie ‘When a Stranger Calls’. The 1950 unsolved murder of 13-year-old Janett Christman. Check out todays featured podcast!
