Eurovision Insight News Podcast: A Summer Of Song Awaits

It was looking like it was going to be a quiet day in the Eurovision world. With the news that the European Broadcasting Union has come to the conclusion that next year’s Song Contest will not be held in Ukraine and has approached the BBC to see if it can host, there’s a sudden burst of public interest in the Song Contest.

We’ll get to all that in next week’s News Podcast when things have calmed down a bit the options might be a little clearer. This week we’ve taken a step back into the history of the Contest to talk about the politics in the early Contests, a more detailed look at the origins of Eurovision, and how European identity was influenced by the Song Contest.
