It’s time for 6s on the circle of Enneagram for the Culture. Kimberly Reese & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of North Carolina, lean into the 6 personality type on episode 10. As the ladies discuss how the Enneagram was active in their lives, Kim shares some sad news. Then starting with an overview (8:19) Kim gives a synopsis on 6s and how they fit in the head triad. Behind that, we swing into arrows 3 & 9, as explained by Kim (15:00). The 6 personality type falls between wings 5 and 7 (16:27), where they can feel calmer about various situations when leaning to the 5 and they can be more spontaneous when leaning towards the 7. One of the misconceptions of 6s is that they’re prone to anxiety, and that’s not necessarily the case, as explained by Camille (25:18). As the show rolls on we get into a very extensive talk about being Black and being a 6 (29:25). Further in the episode we discuss the unique idea of double consciousness (34:22) and how Black people must be aware of how their actions look to others. Near the end our hosts try to give some helpful ways to grow as a 6 (53:25). There was a lot of great information to be had in this episode and it hit a point of poignancy about culture. We hope you enjoy it, and thank you for listening. *Apologies for the sound quality on this one. Our hosts Kimberly Reese & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of North Carolina, break down 3’s and their redeeming, and not so redeeming traits. This episode hits a little closer to home as Kim is a 3 and she shares her insight after Camille gives us an overview (14:50). After gaining a small idea of who 3’s are, we later jump into their connections (25:45) as Kim explains how 3’s connect with 6’s and 9’s. Following that conversation, we enter wings 2 and 4 (30:33) where the 2 offers more balance and collaboration with others, and the 4 offers a more personal emotional connection, as told by Camille. As we discussed some anecdotes around 3’s, Kim touches on aspects of competition and deception (37:53). Later we dive into some misconceptions of 3’s (54:13), like the notion that they can be snobby or love being the center of attention. We’re talking about 2’s on episode 6 of Enneagram for the Culture. Our hosts Kimberly Reese & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of North Carolinas, discuss the ins and outs of the type 2 personality, some misconceptions surrounding it, and how it relates to race and Black culture. After learning that Camille is a suitcase guru and Kim’s sweatshirt game is unmatched, we tap into the heart triad with 2’s; Camille gives an overview (9:26). Following the overview, Kim gets into the access points of 2’s (17:50), pointing out the positive and negative effects of each point. Later, Camille touches on wings 1 & 3, and how the 2 taps into their energy for different personal outcomes (27:00). Moving into the misconceptions (34:05) Camille starts us off by pointing out how some physical actions of 2’s can really be translated to the way they want emotional support, and Kim follows up with how her mother fits into the mix as a self-preservation 2. Because of the caring and humble nature of 2’s, it leads people to over focus on women in the space and somewhat alienate males, as Camille describes in the cultural half of the podcast (42:00). They discuss the "Mammy stereotype" and how 2's, especially Black female 2's, can slip into an unfair caretaking role without boundaries (44:45). Our hosts had excellent discussions on this episode, and we hope you enjoy it. Thank you for listening! We have some great content 4 you on episode 8 of Enneagram for the Culture. Our hosts Kimberly Reese & Camille Logan, black therapists hailing out of the Carolinas, tap into their softer side to talk about the individualist; Enneagram type 4. While discussing how the Enneagram was present in their lives, we learn that Camille had the greatest theater experience of all time and Kim tries to find which ‘Girlfriend’ character she identifies with. Following that conversation, we get into 4’s, starting with Kim’s overview (24:15), and leading into arrows 1 & 2 (27:26). Closely after that we fly into wings 3 & 5 (29:26), where 4’s can become more pragmatic and objective. Though a bit difficult, our hosts managed to find some lighthearted narratives around 4’s (36:56), like the comparisons to a slightly happier Eeyore. Before getting into some misconceptions (43:44), Kim and Camille touch on how emotion and romance are increasingly prevalent in the 4 personalities (42:01). Later, we discuss race and how feelings and emotions aren’t widely discussed or expressed in the black community (47:34) and it can have an adverse effect on 4’s. We talked about the latter and much more in our longest episode of the season, and arguably our most emotional. But it’s all in the name of the Enneagram! We hope you enjoy it.
