Growing up, sometimes we have misunderstandings about God. For Kathie Slusser, hers was that it wasn’t important to feel that God loved her. As she went through life, she learned that this idea wasn’t true. Knowing God’s love for her was the first step in learning to love others.

Kathie has worked in many ways, from teaching, to helping a private investigator, to serving in ministry. She now counsels those in ministry and makes curriculums on spiritual and emotional health. As she has learned to accept God’s love, she has been able to love others in a deeper way. Through love, she can bring hope to those who need it.

What we talked about

We are far more marvelously designed than we ever imagined, but also far more deeply broken than most of us have ever dared to look. But then grace and the Gospel comes, and love comes and says, ‘You are far more rescued than you ever dared to hope.’

Mark Brink, shares about how his ministry works to better reach the Muslim community with the Gospel of Christ. Also, Mark mentions that the harvest within the Muslim community has been great, with many coming to accept Christ.

Throughout the episode, he discusses how the Lord placed a burden on him to reach the Muslim community with the Gospel. By coming into contact with different Muslims or those working closely with Islamic groups, Mark began to understand God’s heart for them. Just like anyone else, Muslims need Jesus.

When the Church is obeying Jesus, communities and neighborhoods become better. Our guest, Gregory (pseudonym), shares about his ministry in Cyprus, which includes a church, a coffee shop, and a ministry training school. He cares deeply about sharing the Gospel to the Muslim world.

Over the last few years, Gregory has co-led a church in Cyprus and trained students at Exile Ministry Training. Part of that training includes making and selling coffee and wine in the community. This allows students to learn about business and to reach out to the community. Gregory talks about his thankfulness for God’s faithfulness and His willingness to use him in Cyprus.

Isn't it just like God to use something seemingly small, like shrimp, to make a MASSIVE impact in the Kingdom?

It might seem like Jeremy Wainwright just suddenly decided to make a change, but really, God was working in his heart long before his friend said, "Would you like to go to Honduras?"

It didn't take him long to decide that this was the opportunity God was giving him and that trip changed EVERYTHING. Now Jeremy has started Shrimp Matters and is actively working with partners in the United States as well as Honduras to bring sustainable shrimp farming to communities.

His work, despite the challenges of COVID-19, is making a difference, and he believes that God has more!

It was exciting to talk with Jeremy and I believe you'll be as encouraged as I was.

Listen to Discover

  • When God started working on Jeremy's heart
  • How key relationships have helped Jeremy along the way
  • The power of waiting patiently, trusting that God is moving
  • How Jeremy has grown as a Believer and as a leader
  • What impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on their shrimp farm
  • Jeremy's heart for ministry led by the local Church
  • What a small payment, a $100 bill, and shrimp have to do with the Kingdom
  • And much, much more

Thousands of missionaries return home each year. What if there was something that could better equip those who send and those who go? Listen as David Joannes shares about The Mind of a Missionary.

Tweet Me: http://engagingmissions.com/tweetme

Get the Book: https://amazon.com/dp/0998061158

Have you ever wondered whether God’s called you to be a missionary? Have you wondered what it takes and why so many missionaries struggle? Have you wondered if your calling isn’t important or why some Christians will leave behind family and friends who haven’t met Christ to take the Gospel thousands of miles away to people they’ve never met?

If so, today’s conversation with David Joannes is for you.

David is a missionary of 20+ years, the founder of Within Reach Global, and the author of a new book, The Mind of a Missionary. In the book, he looks at what motivates missionaries and keeps them going, the reality of struggles and pain, the joy of faithful and selfless obedience, and much more.

My hope and prayer is that after listening to today’s show, you’ll do two things.

  1. Go buy David’s book, The Mind of the Missionary, and read it
  2. See that, regardless of what you’re called to do, you are an integral part of God’s global plan. That He designed you for greatness...to display His glories to the ends of the Earth.
