The week on the pod, we watch some movies with heavy themes and some are difficult to watch in moments. Since we had both already seen The Prestige, we were looking forward to the rewatch to see if the film still holds up. While we couldn’t necessarily say anything negative about the acting or the look of the film, we didn’t think it hit as hard since we already knew the surprise twist at the end. Moving onto 12 Years a Slave made for the most difficult watch of the week. After watching, we certainly see why this movie was so acclaimed and love how the racial and historical themes are so important even if they’re difficult to see on screen. Lastly, we checked out Last of the Mohicans which is a classic that neither of us had seen. We really had to keep the time period this film was set in and the year it was filmed in mind when reflecting on this one! Both of these movies made us reflect on the history lessons we were taught in school and how much we were missing.

In other news, we discussed some new trailers that dropped for The Roses, Eddington, and One Battle After Another. Hannah also talked about some recent podcast episodes she caught up on this week and her rewatch of Ghost World.

Emotional Support Water Bottle - The Nostalgia of SNL50 (+Oscars/Movie Talk)

The Nostalgia of SNL50 (+Oscars/Movie Talk)

play

02/21/25 • 95 min

Well, we forgot to celebrate our 100th episode again, so next week for sure will be the celebration! Instead of celebrating ourselves, we celebrated 50 years of Saturday Night Live by watching the 3 hour SNL50 special. Overall, we both enjoyed the show and there were definitely moments where we laughed out loud which we didn’t really anticipate. Neither of us are avid SNL watchers these days, but we used to be and really appreciated the nostalgia of the show.

The Oscars are nearly here, so we talked a little bit about Anora being ahead of the pack of the big awards. We hate continuously bringing up the Blake Lively/Justin Baldoni drama, but we couldn’t help but compare the way Mikey Madison talked about her take on her character and Blake Lively’s notes on It Ends With Us. Is it so odd that actors take creative liberties with their roles or does it just depend on the director? Hannah also recaps some movie-versions of books she’s read and gives her take on how the two were different. If you’re watching on YouTube, we’re trying out a new camera angle, but that means you see more of the little white dog pacing.

Book Club is back! Next month, we’ll be reading Jojo’s book, Over the Influence. Get on the waitlist so you can finish it by the end of March! Emotional Support Water Bottle - Lying in London (RHOC Recap + VS Fashion Show & Liam Payne)
play

10/18/24 • 114 min

Hannah and Ailish mourn Liam Payne this week as the shocking news of his passing breaks. It’s difficult to comprehend the accident and to think the first member of the iconic boy band, One Direction, is no longer with us. To switch gears, we also recap the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show which made a comeback after a hiatus. The vibe is definitely different, but that’s not a bad thing! We loved the show overall and loved all the surprise angels on the runway. Hannah has been watching the Alien movies as Halloween approaches, so she gives her thoughts so far, and Ailish talks about her recent road trip that took longer than expected.

In Bravo news, Tamra Judge announced on her podcast that she believes she’s on the spectrum after one appointment with a therapist. Is she using this “diagnosis” as an excuse for her bad behavior? In recapping last week’s episode, we move farther and farther away from Camp Shannon’s the Victim. Things just aren’t adding up and every time she’s confronted by an inconsistency or flat out lie, she runs away. At least they're all in London which has to make her behavior a little more tolerable.

Emotional Support Water Bottle - We Want to Focus on the Salad (Martha Stewart Doc & RHOC Recaps)
play

11/15/24 • 90 min

A lot of news broke this week, but one of the most important stories to us was Megan Fox announcing her pregnancy with MGK. We still aren’t sure the status of their relationship, but we’re excited that they’re welcoming a rainbow baby into the world and love seeing a tiny glimpse into their, now private, lives. Teddi Mellencamp allegedly had an affair with her married horse trainer which led to her recently announcing her divorce. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that Teddi nor Edwin have the same philosophy as Martha Stewart when it comes to stepping outside a marriage! Hannah also watched It’s What’s Inside, and Ailish watched Don’t Move, which are both Netflix Original thrillers.

Part 1 of the RHOC reunion was filled with conflict that doesn’t seem to get resolved. They rehash Heather’s paparazzi “scandal”, Ryan’s alleged plea deal, and Shannon’s relationship with alcohol. With two more parts still to come, we hope they stick to topics that we saw on this season since many things getting brought up here seemed to happen years ago, or when the cameras were down.

Our Book Club will be pushed back a bit this month. If you’re planning on reading along with us, we’re reading Men Have Called Her Crazy by Anna Marie Tendler. This one took a while for us to get, so get on that waitlist now! If you love us, leave us comments on social media and YouTube, or write a review with your 5-star rating. If you write us a nice review, DM us and we’ll send you some of our new stickers! Don’t forget to follow our socials, and find us on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. Now that football season is over, what will come of Taylor and Travis? We ponder that on this week’s episode, and give our honest thoughts about Travis’ emotional moment on the sidelines. As Millenials, we also really enjoyed Usher’s halftime performance, but noticed the love wasn’t shared by all on social media. We also share our opinions on appropriate funeral attire, Kim Kardashian and Odell Beckham Jr. going public, and Scott Disick’s recent thin appearance.

We’re continuing to enjoy this season of Vanderpump Rules, but can’t help but wonder if the season will be overpowered by the strong emotions of some of the group. Unshockingly, we’re having a difficult time stomaching Tom Sandoval’s deflections and combative behavior that have continued to present-day. We sided with Lisa, but also felt Sandoval was using some of his manipulation tactics on her. Schwartz tried to “get the gang back together” by suggesting a Tahoe trip that coincides with Lisa preparing Wolf by Vanderpump for opening. It’s no surprise Ariana wasn’t on board, and the rest of the group stayed relatively silent. While Schwartz has certainly behaved badly toward Ariana, we felt her aggression and harsh words might be a little misplaced. Still, Schwartz refuses to give up on his friendship with Sandoval even though it might not be serving him anymore.

To wrap things up, we discuss RHOBH where the ladies are spending their last day in Barcelona. This season has been a bit lack-luster for us, even though we have been entertained. It feels like so many things are being left unsaid, so we wonder if things will finally come to a head at the reunion. Don’t forget to follow our socials, leave some feedback, and give us a follow on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. We’d love to interact with all of you more! After some crazy weather and a bout of sickness, we’re back together to record in person! We begin this episode by recapping the Grammys. It might have been a year or two since we watched, but it felt a lot less exciting and, yet again, the event space seemed really cramped. Remember when the Grammys were famous for their iconic collab performances? Well, that seems to be a thing of the past. We were really impressed by Miley Cyrus’ growth and maturity, and loved her performance! Hannah’s been reading a lot recently and shared her thoughts on Hannah Brown’s and Damien Echols’ respective books. We can all agree that Hannah Brown’s season of the Bachelorette and the Bachelor season that followed were two of the most dramatic and unhinged seasons in Bachelor franchise history, but we didn’t really know much about Hannah’s early years. Turns out, she had some intense trauma that she was never able to fully process. We also discuss this week’s episode of Juicy Scoop with Diablo Cody where she and Heather talk about transparency within the entertainment industry.

This week’s episode of Vanderpump Rules felt like a classic episode. Tom Sandoval has returned from filming Special Forces and we get a peek at how he and Ariana are cohabitating. We definitely don’t envy poor Ann and can see why she recently quit! Scheana continues to get real about her postpartum struggle with OCD, and she and Brock get in kind of an awkward fight where her mom and babysitter get involved. The cherry on top of this episode was definitely Tom Sandoval calling James a narcissist for refusing to rehash something that happened 10 years ago. He’s heard the word so much over the months post-Scandoval, so he decided to try it on someone other than himself. RHOBH was another snoozer this week, so we kept the recap pretty quick. We did love drunk Erika at dinner though! Don’t forget to follow our socials, leave some feedback, and give us a follow on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. We’d love to interact with all of you more! So grab your water bottles, and look out for new episodes every Friday!

Ailish’s Recommendation: NYT Connections

Hannah’s Recommendation: The Most Unhinged Season of The Bachelorette: Ashley Norton or Life After Death by Damien Echols

It's our 50th episode! We're remote again this week, but that doesn't stop us from discussing everything Vanderpump related. To begin this episode, we break our boycott against The Viall Files in order to listen to his interview with Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. It was interesting to say the least! While we were glad to hear that Nick was attempting to get answers from Sandoval, we don't believe he went about it the right way and it caused the interview to go completely off the rails. It didn't help that Nick hasn't watched even half of the seasons or that Sandoval may or may not have been under the influence. Say what you want about Schwartz, but he did make a valiant effort to make some sense of Sandoval's scattered and defensive comments!

From there we dove into what we've been waiting months for: the season 11 Vanderpump Rules premiere. This episode wasn't shocking, but it brought us up to speed on what everyone had been up to and kept us entertained. We particularly loved seeing James and Schwartz bond and the girls connecting over common enemies, and didn't care for the Lala/Rachel plotline and rehashing all the Scandoval details. Hannah brings up some thoughtful points after rewatching seasons 1-10 and Ailish adds tidbits from the After Show. We can't wait for the rest of this season and even more excited to discuss with all of you!

To wrap up the episode, we also discuss the Brittany Mahomes drama from last week’s playoff game and how she’s always going to be compared to Taylor Swift. Why don’t people vibe with Brittany? RHOBH didn’t particularly excite us this week, so we mainly talked about the AnneMarie situation. Amanda Hirsch of Not Skinny But Not Fat had a great interview with Theresa Caputo and Ailish explains how it struck a nerve with her. Don’t forget to follow our socials, leave some feedback, and give us a follow on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. We’d love to interact with all of you more! So grab your water bottles, and look out for new episodes every Friday!

Emotional Support Water Bottle - Vanderpump Premiere Party & Book Club Replay

Technical difficulties cursed us again! Since the weather was bad in Northern Ohio, we opted for a virtual recording session. Everything was going great, until we stopped and realized only Hannah’s audio and video was recording! So this week, you’ll be enjoying 20 minutes of us talking about the Vanderpump Rules Premiere Party in LA and a portion of our Greenlights Book Club episode. VPR doesn’t premiere for the masses until January 30, but we got a little teaser from the party on Wednesday. Scheana even drops some shade on a certain other podcaster (who we’re tired of talking about) and the “payroll husband” merch they released for no reason. Since then, Scheana has dropped her own merch stating “You’re giving me the ick”. Should we buy some in support?

In our replay of Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey, we talk about exactly why we loved this memoir. It definitely gave us a lot of laughs and we learned a lot about the man behind some of our favorite rom coms. Be sure to listen to the whole episode using the link below! Next week, we’ll have so much to talk about since we’ll be making up for the content we lost in this episode, so get ready! Don’t forget to follow our socials, leave some feedback, and give us a follow on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts. We’d love to interact with all of you more! So grab your water bottles, and look out for new episodes every Friday!

We start this episode by recapping our favorite looks from the Golden Globes. If you didn’t watch, feel free to skip ahead to (35:56). Overall, the stars really delivered and there were only a few looks that were worthy of a fashion writeup. Some of our favorite looks came from Rosamund Pike, Barry Keoghan, Jennifer Lawrence, and Hunter Schafer. It’s times like this when we really miss the golden era of E! and Fashion Police with Joan Rivers. And where were all the Red Carpet correspondents? It would be a shame to talk about the Golden Globes without discussing the couple of the moment: Kylie and Timmy. Some people cast doubts on this couple, but we feel they’re genuine and totally smitten with each other. Let’s be real, who wouldn’t swoon from a loving look by Timothée Chalamet? If you’re anything like us, you didn’t want to listen to the first episode of Rachel Goes Rogue. Unfortunately for us and fortunately for you, we cranked that podcast up to 1.5 speed and made it through. This episode of avoidance from Rachel had us so heated. It’s hard to understand the timing of this podcast when it seems like most people have moved on, and we don’t see how sharing new and ever-changing details about her affair with Tom were productive or healing. Our recap starts at (44:14). This was a big week for RHOSLC, so we have to discuss the Monica drama even though we haven’t been regularly recapping. We’re torn about Monica because she was a troll in the past and is clearly calculated, however, she’s been carrying this season on her back. We also quickly run through RHOBH since it was a pretty low-key episode. It’s been really difficult to connect with Crystal over the last couple seasons, but we feel her experiences with an ED and reaction to the Ozempic craze make her unique. Opening up more about those topics would actually give her a real plotline. If you've been missing our Book Club, don’t worry! We’ll be starting that up again after the New Year. Emotional Support Water Bottle - From Mickey 17 to The Menu (Movie Talk & Meghan Markle)
play

03/14/25 • 86 min

This week on the podcast, Hannah and Ailish tease a podcast announcement. Stay tuned for something exciting coming soon! Ailish went on a little Bong Joon Ho binge and watched Mickey 17, Okja, and Snowpiercer. We didn’t give away any Mickey 17 spoilers, but it’s definitely refreshing to see movies like this that are a little quirky and fun getting made and shown in theatres. Hannah watched The Menu, Lars and the Real Girl, and Smile 2, and liked them all overall. We loved reminiscing on Lars and the Real Girl and other films with similar vibes from that time like Dan in Real Life and Little Miss Sunshine.

In pop culture news, we talk about the new developments with Meghan Markle’s cooking show and some of the points Heather McDonald brought up on Tuesday's episode of Juicy Scoop. Book Club is back! Next month, we’ll be reading Jojo’s book, Over the Influence. Get on the waitlist so you can finish it by the end of March!
