Høly River with Laney Sullivan and Jameson Price
elixir podcast
02/07/23 • 36 min
The music of Høly River carries the message of humanity’s need for reconnection with the earth. Mystically political and wholeheartedly grassroots this DIY band finds themselves playing on large festival stages as well as backyard fire pits of intentional communities around the world.
Høly River was founded by multi-instrumentalists Laney Sullivan and Jameson Price. Fusing together the pulse of drone pop, worldly instrumentation, this experimental music would best be described as a landscape, as a biome all its own. This musical phenomenon has come to be known as, Earth folk, a type of music inspired thematically by the natural environment: flora, fauna, soil, stars, and the human experience. From harmonium engulfed melodies to mouth-harp stomp grass, Høly River taps into an embodied and innate celebration of internal and external worlds, attempting to bring them closer together with each beat. On record or in-person, a listener is entranced in the soaring vocal ballads bathed in the moonlight of dance beats and folk-inspired roots.

A Language of Lemons with Stephanie Vlad
elixir podcast
02/04/24 • 35 min
Stephanie Vlad is a Master’s level Psychologist by trade and human empowerer by birth. She has 15+ years of experience in the talk therapy realm, working in community, nonprofit, and private settings, and has been in solo private practice since 2017. Understanding that we are whole beings with mind + body + soul, she felt that her therapy practice was missing a huge part of the big picture and took another leap into opening an embodiment studio to reach more people through movement offerings. Her mission with the Embodiment Studio is to help people come home to themselves.
Her belief is that we are born with all that we need inside of us and require a little reminding that it is safe to listen and trust that inner knowing. She strives to help her clients work through their struggles, connect to what is important to them and create a life that brings fulfillment.
She has been told that she is a direct, at times, forceful nurturer, which stems from her ability to see your greatest potential and to take up space in your brain as your inner cheerleader. She talks loudly, most often with her hands and big facial expressions, and does not shy away from showing you that she too is an authentic human who feels deeply.

Rhythm + Harmony with Maria Borghoff
elixir podcast
04/09/21 • 62 min
On this episode, I am talking with my friend, Maria Borghoff. Her and I met several years ago in the local yoga community. I've attended as well as co-hosted workshops with Maria, and always feel super inspired after being in her presence.
Maria has studied with master teachers of Integral Yoga, Qigong, Tibetan Buddhism, Ayurveda, Reiki, Classical Music, Death Support, Mental Health Advocacy, and Social Work.
As the director of Rhythm Art & Yoga School, Maria provides personal and professional mentorship through yoga teacher training and healing artist residency. Maria works with beginner students, established teachers, emerging artists, and licensed therapists. She spends her time singing, writing, dancing, making music, and creating art. Maria’s melodic voice is deeply relaxing, ancient, and “other-worldly,” and students describe her teaching style as intelligent, intuitive, healing, uplifting, compassionate, grounded, thought-provoking, and inclusive.
During our conversation, Maria and I talk about goddess psychology, the concepts of harmony and dissonance, the rhythms of life and the earth, and so much more.
