EdUp Learning and Development, hosted by Holly Owens - 2: The 4 Cs of QuadC with Jeff Giorgi, Head of Higher Education Partnerships

2: The 4 Cs of QuadC with Jeff Giorgi, Head of Higher Education Partnerships

EdUp Learning and Development, hosted by Holly Owens

Episode Overview

In episode 2 of EdUp EdTech, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jeff Giorgi from QuadC about his role as the Head of Higher Ed Partnerships. In this episode, Jeff and I dive into the 4 C’s of QuadC: Connect, Communicate, Collaborate, and Consolidate and how their services help institutions streamline student services.

What is Quad C?

TutorOcean's higher ed solution morphed into QuadC after several of their higher ed partnerships grew and evolved with them by adding roles beyond tutors to their platform. They needed a brand name to reflect their capability in helping higher ed schools connect their students with a wide variety of student services and not strictly just tutoring. Hence why QuadC was born -- helping schools: Connect, Communicate, Collaborate, and Consolidate. They help higher ed schools connect their students with their services -- both virtually and Face 2 Face. At the same time, they streamline several internal operations of those services.

More about Jeff

Prior to joining TutorOcean, Jeff was freelancing digital marketing services where he helped small and medium-sized businesses generate sales meetings through LinkedIn. One of his clients was Will Li, CEO & Co-Founder of TutorOcean. After working with Will and his team for some months, their working relationship organically evolved and Jeff decided to join Will and the team full time to help revolutionize the education industry.

1: Ideas for Using Parlay with Bobby McDonald, Founder & CEO, Parlay

In the inaugural episode of EdUp EdTech we speak with Bobby McDonald, Founder and CEO of Parlay. Bobby began creating Parlay when he was a sophomore in college out of the need to have more dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative discussions with his classmates. Parlay is “a discussion-based learning tool and global community of educators who are reimagining class discussions for the 21st Century.”

In this exciting episode Bobby and I discuss how Parlay is helping educators, faculty, and students have “rich” and “inclusive” conversations through three distinct learning areas within Parlay: (1) The Universe, (2) Online Round Table, and (3) Live Round Table. Take the journey with us and learn more about how intentional and meaningful conversations are being used in education through the implementation of Parlay, and changing how 21st century learners engage in discussions.

Bobby also drops a few hints about what is on Parlay’s roadmap. You are not going to want to miss these insights!

3: Digging into Yellowdig with Shaunak Roy, Founder & CEO

Episode Overview
In episode 3 of EdUp EdTech, I had the pleasure of speaking with Shaunak Roy, Founder, and CEO of Yellowdig. We had a wonderful conversation about his journey into the ed-tech space and how Yellowdig is changing the way learners from all parts of the globe connect and build lifelong communities. Be sure to check out all the places where you can connect with him and find out more about Yellowdig below.

What is Yellowdig?
Yellowdig is a social learning platform designed for higher education that integrates with any LMS. Many instructors use it instead of LMS discussion forums. The best part is that it’s auto-graded and auto-populates grades to your gradebook in any LMS. Students achieve points through word count and participating with common social media behavior, like “liking” or “loving” a post or posting a comment on another person’s Pin. Yellowdig promotes community engagement through sharing information and teaching others. Studies have shown that that students can retain up to 90% of what they learn by teaching each other, far higher than when students are mainly in a passive learning environment.

More about Shaunak Roy
In 2014, Yellowdig's CEO and founder, Shaunak Roy, knew he wanted to start a company that mattered. As Facebook and other social media technologies took over the social connectivity scene, he saw an opportunity to leverage this idea of social sharing through technology, but specifically in the area of sharing academic ideas and knowledge. As Shaunak looked back on his own academic days (he went to undergrad at IIT Bombay, and postgrad at MIT), he realized that he learned as much from his peers as he did from his brilliant professors. Some of the bonds he created with his peers lasted well beyond those formative years and morphed into lifelong friendships.
