#011: Be Strong, Be Useful
12/10/20 • 30 min
Let's get the pump! Join Nick and Austin as they compare the Christian idea of exercise to getting swole. We all like a good burn, but what's it for? And maybe an even better question, who's it for? Nick also tries to sell Austin on his new favorite workout style, MovNat. Championed by barefoot dudes with long hair and a penchant for park bench-hopping, MovNat is about recovering the natural movements (balancing, swinging, climbing, throwing, rolling, etc.) that we've lost in our modern lives. The primary goal is to be strong to be useful. Austin thinks it's a cult; Nick thinks it aligns with the Christian mandate to lay down one's life for a neighbor. Maybe it's kinda both. You can't knock it until you've tried it. Check out the links below for more background and how to get started. Don't be zoo human!

#010: Should Christians Retreat?
On this episode, Nick and Austin talk about the tough questions that are on the minds of many Christians. How should we live in the modern world? Should we retreat? Should we fight? Is there even a problem? We take a look at the life of St. Benedict, the fall of the Roman Empire, and other current cultural forces for answers.
We also talk dumplings, keipi dinners, and babies.
(NOTE: We're well aware that Nick's audio quality is not stellar in this episode. Even without his mellifluous voice, the content is worth sticking it out! Not that we're biased or anything.)

#012: A Future Not Our Own
Join Tyler and Austin as they discuss growing carrots, making mead, and living in the moment without losing sight of the future. Here is the spin: the future will slip away from us if we forget our proper place in it all. Check out this prayer (Prophets of a Future Not Our Own), it gave Tyler a lot of solace as a first year teacher, but is was also the inspiration for this show.
