Episode 147: Valley of the Dawn
Easy Bake Coven
01/31/25 • 91 min
Coven, you've heard us share our constant worry that we're both dangerously susceptible to joining a cult. This week, we're really putting our strong will to the test as we cover arguably the coolest cult we've ever heard of. It's got the first female truck driver in Brazilian history, it's got aliens, it's got astral projection, it's got super rad outfits, and it has friendly Jesus. What more could we ask for? In the 1950s, Neiva Chavez Zelaya had been suffering for years from disturbing visions and overwhelming out of body experiences that she couldn't explain. Eventually, she sought help from psychics and spiritual healers, and learned to harness what would become extraordinary gifts. She used these gifts to heal the poor and sick, and grew a following that would number in the hundreds of thousands. Will we soon count ourselves among those followers? Tune in to find out!

Happy New Year, coven! We're starting 2025 off with a bang (Lisey wishes) as we continue our ongoing cryptid series and cover Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp Monster. But has he really been seen for centuries, just called by many different names? Or is he an invention of an avid hunter who wants free reign over good hunting territory? You know we'll share our strong opinions! Join us as we toast to the new year, and partake in some witchy rituals that will surely bring us all happiness and prosperity in the coming year.

Episode 139: Mass UFO Sightings
Easy Bake Coven
12/06/24 • 101 min
Throughout the entirety of this podcast, we've heard this question over and over: "If UFOs are real, why haven't more people seen them?" It's a valid question, and yet the more we learn about extraterrestrial activity, the more we realize that people have been seeing them! And sometimes even on a massive scale. This week we'll learn about two such examples, where dozens and even hundreds of folks saw the same thing around the same place and time. First, we'll travel to Western Massachusetts in 1969, where a hot September evening saw inexplicable lights and crafts over multiple towns. Next, we'll cover what is quickly becoming halee's favorite UFO sighting! We'll discuss the 1994 Michigan mass sighting, where hundreds of puzzled residents wondered what on earth they were seeing above their houses. We'll talk about radar data, listen to some seriously cool 911 calls, and hear halee's renewed passion for Ufology (and Paul Mescal). Not only do we want to believe... we do believe! And soon you will too!

Episode 97: Crystals, Bitch!
Easy Bake Coven
02/02/24 • 74 min
Happy February, coven! We made it through what can only be described as the longest month of all time! And it turns out that even in February, weirdness abounds. This week we travel from possible historic wreckage on the ocean floor, to justice in the sky as the perv flight attendant finally gets criminally charged. Speaking of justice, we're happy to report on both an influencer and murderer who were held accountable this week too! We'll hear about the devil spontaneously shattering a violin, mysterious deaths in Kansas City, and some pretty compelling survey data that suggests you all want to believe (in UFOS) just as much as we do! Tune in for your weekly roundup of all things weird and wonderful.

Episode 129: The Terror of Franklin's Failed Expedition
Easy Bake Coven
09/27/24 • 118 min
In 1845, a crew of 134 men set out in search of the elusive Northwest Passage, hoping to find a shortcut between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Armed with thousands of canned goods, gallons of lemon juice and a passion for adventure, they set forth on the HMS Terror and Erebus, ready for a taste of glory. Instead, they found themselves stuck at sea for more than three years, their ships encased in thick, unforgiving ice. When it refused to thaw in 1848, the men abandoned ship and headed out on foot in the hopes they'd find help and a way home. And then... they seemingly disappeared. It would take years before any trace of the men was found, and what was discovered were simply sun bleached bones, scattered in the wind. Today, much of the failed Franklin expedition remains a mystery, but a few clues have been realized, painting a grisly picture for the crew who gave their lives in pursuit of discovery. We'll discuss possible theories, dive into AMC's miniseries "The Terror" and uncover the shocking details that make this 140-year-old mystery so haunting. Elise can't get this one out of her head, and perhaps you won't be able to either. Northwest Passage cruise, anyone? Happy Haunting!

Episode 82: This One’s a Hoot
Easy Bake Coven
10/20/23 • 60 min
There’s never a dull moment in the world of the paranormal and true crime. This week, we’ll bring the best of the worst to you and yours. Funeral homes forget where dead bodies go, clowns haunt unsuspecting Scottish countrysides and witch doctors set swarms of bees on thieves. We’ll discuss whether Bigfoot has been found once and for all, glowing UFOs that were seen in the light of day and potato shaped asteroids made of metal. Halee nearly meets her maker when an “owl” threatens to beam her up. Hell, that sounds more like a promise than a threat! There’s all that and more in this week’s news wrap up. Happy haunting!

Episode 45 : The Girls Who Glowed in the Dark
Easy Bake Coven
09/09/22 • 90 min
Corporations don’t have your best interests at heart. Shocker. Never was the case more true than in the 1920s when radium took the world by storm. Discovered by Marie and Pierre Curie, this radioactive element was incorporated into every facet of American life. Radium infused butter? You betcha. Radium-lined glasses? Yep! You could even get your hands on radium face wash. So it raised zero red flags when young girls lined up to work for the United States Radium Corporation, painting watch faces and instrument panels with glow-in-the-dark radium powder. The radium girls became known as the Ghost Girls because they literally glowed in the dark. But the dangers of radiation were lost on the girls, who were kept in the dark about its vicious side-effects. Today, we have brave women to thank for our modern work-place safety measures, women who took a stand against vile corporations with only one interest in mind. With a half-life of 1600 years, it’s likely the effects of radiation are still on display from within the grave. This week is not your classic scary story, but it’s a tale as old as time with a horrifying ending. Halee lightens things up with some sweet chocolate chip cookies. Happy Haunting!

Episode 65: What the Fuck is up with Crop Circles?
Easy Bake Coven
06/23/23 • 68 min
Coven, there's really no other way to say it. What the fuck is up with crop circles? Are they a manmade hoax? Are they alien landing spots? Are they the result of drunk wallabies wandering about the fields? This week, we dig up the history of these infamous markings, and learn about some very compelling cases. Don't worry, before we get too carried away (in a UFO?) Joe Nickell brings us back down to earth. As always, it's spooky and it's fun and god damn we want to believe it.

Episode 16 : Revenge of the Greenbrier Ghost
Easy Bake Coven
02/11/22 • 86 min
Didn't think a murder victim could return from the grave demanding justice? Think again! In this episode, we're heading back to West Virginia to the murder trial of Zona Heaster Shue, more commonly known as the Greenbrier Ghost. Strange occurrences surrounded the death of Zona, like the high-necked collar her husband dressed her in immediately after her death, but none so strange as the ghostly encounter her mother Mary witnessed four separate times. If you're still not convinced ghosts are among us, tune in to Episode 16 for all the compelling details. You'll also be treated with sure-fire proof of aliens, ooky spooky dream stories, and Halee's delicious cream cheese brownies. Happy Haunting!

Episode 99: Mutant Wolves vs Rabid Coyotes
Easy Bake Coven
02/16/24 • 64 min
It's a dog eat dog world out there, folks. And the proof is in the pudding because this week we're talking about rabid coyotes and mutant wolves. The former are biting hikers, while the latter just may be saving the world from cancer. You can thank Chernobyl for that. (Actually, thank science.) Sadly, not everyone is so advanced. Texas hands out a measly 180-day jail sentence for a husband-induced abortion. Parents are dealt the swift hand of justice on behalf of their children's deadly choices, and a 12-year-old boy is failed by counselors at a North Carolina therapy camp. Heavy. On the lighter side, fire demons appear in Chile, ghosts of grandmas past appear in nurseries and Rachel Dolezal is grifting on Only Fans. Saved the scariest for last. There's all that and more in this week's news update. Happy Haunting!
