DumTeeDum - A show about BBC Radio's 'The Archers'
This week Roifield is in wonderful San Francisco with a local version of Barwick Green. Both Lucy and Roifield retailed overheard stories to commence the levity this week. Lucy gets around on a Hoverboard apparently - she finds getting to the park difficult. She does do a very good impersonation of teenage boys.Inheritance of Brookfield was discussed. What worries me is that once she becomes Pip Holman and inherits running the farm (if not the owner) will the programme be renamed The Holmans? Or unlike Helen will she keep her own name and bank account?Yokel Bear is listening again - to the podcasts - but only to the real Archers ignoring that storyline! He reckons that The Archers is generally back on form.Callers have to name their dogs so that they can become official #Dumteedogs.Opinions on the Fairbrethern remain divided. Some could not care less; others are enjoying the "posh boys learn about farming story". Josh is just considered laughable. Shula was slated to marry Nigel but Lucy deems her resolutely tupperware and not acceptable to Julia - Nigel got Lizzie as a consolation prize.Sentence of the week: "Women make bad choices sometimes but they know about predator proofing."KosmoOn this week’s episode we have calls from New York Nigel who’s staying away from the roofYokelbear who’s re-engaged with AmbridgeAndrea Meling who doesn’t believe in JoshWitherspoon who wants to know why the phones at Bridge Farm don’t workEmily Thomas who wants to slap the farebrethren with a chainsawAllison Hartley who wants Tom and Kirsty to rejoin forcesGoddess Deeva who thinks what happens in Brighton should stay in BrightonandAndrew White who wants a word with Ian.

DTD Ep93 - We need more Ian

The headline gives it all this week - we all want to know how and why Ian is going to work his way out of his current impasse with his life partner and his best friend in the village. Lucy believes that Ian would normally talk through his problem with Adam using his normally calm approach to resolving difficulties. Ian obviously cannot think about matters clearly or see a way forward and bringing a reconciliation of all three parties over (hopefully) the near future will prove instructive for listeners.Andrew White from Portland, Maine was making his first call and he has a Jean Harvey fan club which Lucy is glad to know exists. He did not disclose his occupation. Vicky from Cambridge was also a first time caller and she likes Charlie Thomas and she thinks he will stay as well as asking why all the new men are wrong 'uns (Rob, Alex, Toby and/or Rex et al). She buys toilet rolls.I was not the only one who spotted the frisson between Hayley and Roy - thank you Vicky Cole. Lucy does not believe she could be so relaxed over her parenting as demonstrated by Hayley to Phoebe. Luckily Kate did not have the opportunity to get it wrong. Not enough lions roaring in Kenya.Kosmo reminder paragraph: Jennifer did NOT have an affair with John Tregorran - he wouldn't! She did however later have an assignation with her ex-husband Roger as we heard the bedsprings squeaking in a hotel room and she later admitted it to Brian. Does bedding an ex count as a real affair? Subsequently the other side of this is discussed with people being friends after a relationship ends. For Lucy's benefit Caroline took in a lot of men!"Well there was the meltdown over the botulism" demonstrated to Lucy why she loves doing the podcast.Kosmo reminder paragraph: Have the listeners forgotten the Archers two-hander when Kathy and Sid had an entire episode in the Bull to themselves as she had just found out about Jolene? Now that was original.Millie Belle has had a busy week on the Facebook page - go and check out all of updates.KosmoOn this week’s episode we have calls from Andrew White who says we’re a gateway drugVicky Cole who’s pleased Hayley’s backMichele who’s loving the feminist agendaWitherspoon who’s frustrated with PhoebeBlithe Spirit who’s annoyed with CharlieVicky from Cambridge who loves him.

DTD 95 – Sorry its late

This week we heard a number of new callerinerers rising out of lurkdom and contributing to the discussions and provoking comments from our hosts. Not all of them disclosed their real life occupation. But many dumteedogs were named.Meanwhile the steady repatterning of activities in the village means that we are moving back in the direction of characters leading the action with issues hopefully being relegated to a lesser level. For example the wedding story reminding us of Emma's insecurities and demonstrating Kirsty's ability to cope with almost anything which arises. This is where The Archers should be and we obviously hope it will continue. The one character losing the plot is still Pat who seems to have gone completely deaf and blind over her daughter. Lucy knows that Lilian did not smoke in the kitchen at the Dower House so would not do so at Home Farm - and Jenny would certainly not let her.Roifield lectured us all on just how good the 70's were - mainly because of the excellent music which was the soundtrack to our lives whilst Lucy was not at all keen because of the poor fashions.Lucy is sad at the passing of Terry Wogan (Kosmo likewise) - but remarked on Terry's ability to create a community through the spoken word which she hopes we are emulating with similar eccentricity in DumTeeDum. I refer to the opening paragraph above - it seems we are - all welcome!KosmoOn this week’s episode we have calls from Claire from Clapham who’s worried about Helen rejecting help Andrew Horn who is irony spottingScarlett Sparrow who’s worried about KrustyHannah Clarke who has a way of getting rid of Rob and Toby at onceMrs M who was married to a robJacqueline Bertho who’s sick of hearing about BrightonKat Brown who’s furious with PatDusty Substances who’s got the wrong sort of germsandKosmo who’s disappointed in Brian.
