Tom Higgenson of The Plain White T's is back for a best of July battle between 1976, 1986 and 1996!
Dueling Decades
07/14/21 • 111 min
Greetings everyone, and welcome back to another nostalgic installment of your favorite retro game show, Dueling Decades! This week, we bring back a judge that really loves a good retro deep dive! I mean, who doesn't?! But, he liked it so much, that he requested to come back for more! Tom Higgenson, the frontman of The Plain White T's is back as our guest judge! This time though, he's dropped a new retro-style solo project named, Million Miler. So once this episode concludes (wait till after Tom's great acoustic performance at the end), go and check out his new Million Miler album, "MILLY"! Before all that happens, let's look at our competitors. First up, rotary dialing it back to the 1970s, Mancrush brings the best July 1976 had to offer. Smack dab in the middle this week, Marc James delivers one crazy summer, with the best of July 1986! And returning this week, loyal listener of the show, Trevor Gumbal, and he brings the coolest July 1996 one could ask for.
This episode is a lot of fun! And it's even better on video! So make sure to check us out on YouTube or PodTV and subscribe. In this episode, you might hear something about: keeping it up longer with disco dancin' adult stars, spending time at the pawnshop, a rock icon flies solo, David Geffen can't handle Clint Eastwood, a sequel that's better than the original, Randy Quaid will dust your crops, family fornication with strange celebrities, three days for America, a TV show that's turned into a flaming pile of garbage, Freddie Mercury rules, a sitcom star leads a cult, Mancrush's dad surfs the web, how to make a proper setlist, a trip to the red planet, really fast cousins, sheep science, Marc loses count while aboard the pork chop express, a legend hits his last long ball, music listening habits, Tom's 1990s indie run, and Trevor walks off the set! All that and more!
Do you agree with Tom's rulings? Need more? Come watch us on YouTube!

Tom Higgenson decides which November was the worst 1974, 1984 or 1995 & tells you how to win a copy of his new album!
Dueling Decades
11/17/21 • 93 min
It's not every day you get a Grammy-nominated musician judging his third episode! We said it before, and we'll say it again, Tom Higgenson is in love with the 80s! He loves them so much, he started his own synth-pop solo project that's just "dripping with nostalgia"! So after you listen to this, head over to YouTube and watch his new videos for "Zuma Beach" & "She ain't Coming Back" by his new project - Million Miler. And while you're at it, listen to the episode to find out how you can win a copy of his new album on vinyl AND cassette! Anyways, first up this week, back from reviewing 173 different tech devices, Joe Findlay delivers his worst from November 1974. Marc snagged Tom's favorite decade, but will it help? He brings the worst of November 1984. Mancrush rounds out the competition with a totally horrible, November 1995!
Do you agree with Tom's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard! To win Tom's album, we will be drawing from the folks who do the following: follow @higgypop on Instagram, follow @duelingdecades on Instagram, and follow Tom's new project Million Miler @million.miler.music and then shoot us a DM to let us know! We will draw the winner the week after Thanksgiving.

Taking a Million Miler with Tom Higgenson of the Plain White Ts in this battle between 1978, 1986, & 1996!
Dueling Decades
03/24/21 • 88 min
It's not every day you get a Grammy-nominated musician willing to guest judge an episode, but this week we got lucky. Although his band Plain White T's didn't blow up until the 2000s, Tom Higgenson is in love with the 80s! Matter of fact, he loves them so much, he started his own synth-pop solo project that's just dripping with nostalgia! So after you listen to this, head out and take a listen to his new solo work, Million Miler. Tom is a fantastic judge, and he calls em as he sees them! First up this week, back from returning tapes to the video store, Mike Ranger delivers a late "week experience" with March 1978. Mancrush drew Tom's favorite decade, but will it help? He brings the best of his third week of March 1986. Marc James rounds out the competition with a dandy offering from the third week of March 1996!
If you're wondering, the new Million Miler album is coming in May, but you can already listen to a few of the new tracks on Spotify. Get ready for a real straight shooter, Tom has pretty even-keeled judging parameters! In this episode, you might hear something about: Not Jim Morrison's cousin releases a hit track, a platonic love story between coworkers, phone sex operators, Billboard chart-toppers you forgot, skanking made easy, Mike Ranger brings Cheese and Onions, a musician falls while another is almost fired, yoke filled aliens, Mike will win around with a little luck, the aftermath of Suge, suing psychics, balancing acts gone awry, HBO knocks out the competition, Michael Stivic's mustache, karate champs wear singlets, Delilah goes to the Grammys, Tom's new work with Milly, iCarly, Ringo Star, punk rock, and can I get a little cup of wrestling to go with my mayonnaise and shredded cabbage?
Do you agree with Tom's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

Lydia Cornell gets too close for comfort with this Week Experience battle between 1983 & 1996!
Dueling Decades
12/08/21 • 73 min
This week we have another totally righteous rerun for you as we flashback to the time the ageless and beautiful Lydia Cornell joined the show! The Too Close for Comfort star judges this battle between 1983 & 1996, and drops some serious Hollywood stories on us. Just who did she kiss on Magic Mountain? What did she say about Ted Knight on a talk show that was too scandalous for audiences? Who did she deliver "the talk" to while celebrating an anniversary at Hooters? Did she start a rumor? An agent did what?! Stalkers, Stolen valor, and a whole lot more from her upcoming book!
Mike Ranger and Marc go head to head on this week's retro battle between the 80s and 90s! On this episode, we got notorious killers, Marc digs deep for an industrial discovery, Lydia gets wet on a television challenge, stripping welders, songs about masturbation, short shorts and tight tank tops, Gerbils in small uncomfortable spaces, witches on television, tv networks on the decline, hammer on the decline, JTT gets stricken with disease, and much much more!
Do you agree with Lydia’s rulings? How did you score it?

This week on everyone's favorite adult-only retro game show, we look back to one of our favorite episodes. In this head-to-head Week Experience showdown, Mancrush steps up the plate with April 21st through the 27th of 1985 to face off against The Professor Drew Zackin. Drew comes prepared to drop the knowledge as he gears up with April 17th through the 23rd of 1994! As usual, we need someone to hold down law and order, so why not a 1980s & 1990s movie villain? That's right, who knows the law better than an outlaw?! This man trashes teenage house parties for fun, battles Mad Max in the apocalypse with assless chaps, kidnaps John Matrix's daughter, and gets cozy inside Martin Short's body! He had no limits, and he's here to decide which decade did it better. Welcome, the nicest bad guy we ever got to meet, Vernon Wells!
In this episode, we got all kinds of nostalgia that you didn't know, you didn't need to know. A huge company flinched to its competitor's advances, Dan Akyroyd sings with Willie Nelson, an iconic album gets a followup, Teri dresses like Elvis Costello, an ER doctor has sex with a spy, obscure TV shows down under, prostitutes unionize and become dangerous, a movie you probably don't remember, an album that changed the game, a bizarre concert pairing upsets teeny boppers, lots of videotapes, Peg Bundy, Madonna's a genius, Drew gives a history lesson, someone died, Drew gives another history lesson, Vernon didn't care, opinionated comedians, a janitor goes to the Tennessee State Penitentiary, Vernon drops all kinds of gems, and where the hell do rich people hang their paintings anyway?
Do you agree with the judicial rulings of Mr. Vernon Wells? How did you score it? Let us know!`

It's that time of the week again! Your three favorite decades are back to battle for supremacy, in this week's "worst of" March duel! For this worst of episode, we went straight to the gum merchant himself, Scott Schiaffo to judge this tomfoolery! As it turns out Scott's a pretty positive thinking guy. So deciding which decade was the pits was really difficult for him to do! Don't you worry though, Scott still swings that gavel, and picks the biggest loser. First up, Joe Findlay does what he does best, and brings the very worst of March 1976. Marc James drew the big straw this week and delivers his worst findings of March 1983. And rounding out this week's turd trifecta, Mancrush counters with some serious trash from March of 1994.
Scott is fantastic, he does such a great job deliberating all his picks, and his perspective on things is top-notch. If you ever see him at a convention, we totally recommend stopping by and saying hello (and take a picture of course)! In this episode, you may hear about unfortunate typos, traditions broken, vicious dogs attack me in sleepless nights of summer, the prequel to Mike and Molly, there's no gas at a sheep station, whoa this show sucks, Mark Wahlberg diss tracks, missing persons, the mysterious case of Tammy Lynn Leppert, what thirty million dollars of blow gets you, Howard Stern's tax returns cause a stir, a movie so bad a veteran director never worked again, drunk dudes, Findlay bringing the sadness, little clowns and ladder matches, what genetic engineering sounds like, Ace of Bass needs to make a comeback, the perils of addiction, a musician's unfortunate demise, and a whole lot more!
Do you agree with Scott's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!

You're favorite Chewlies Gum rep, Scott Schiaffo of Clerks judges this battle between 1977, 1988 & 1999!
Dueling Decades
01/13/21 • 97 min
Yes, I assure you, we're back! Fans will know this week's judge best from his role as the Chewlies Gum rep in the Kevin Smith classic, Clerks. Scott Schiaffo took some time away from getting angry crowds of customers throwing cigarettes and calling clerks around the country "cancer merchants" to swing the gavel for us this week! Not to worry, there was plenty to throw this week! First up, Drew "The Professor" Zakmin is back, and he's got the best "weak" experience of January 1999 he could find. Mancrush drew the year he never seems to have any luck with, January 1988. Will his week be strong enough to get him a win this time? Rounding out the trifecta of nostalgia this week, Marc James jams all the way back to the first week of January 1977!
Scott was a super awesome funny dude, and his stories were amazing! If you dig what they talked about in this episode with Scott, go grab a copy of his new book Vicious Dogs Attack Me In Sleepless Nights Of Summer! In this episode, you might hear about how Scott almost got arrested before auditioning for Clerks, sodium enriched lunches for the kids, a weird incestual comic book tale, January always draws the short straw for pop culture, a legitimate bootleg gaming system, drunk dialing 976 numbers, Schwarzenegger news, Drew can't stop talking about Monica Lewinsky, the Pinwheel theme almost resurfaces, Hogan goes down on Nash, Lynda Carter says hello in the green room, a band full of retreads, Nixon's testicles make an appearance, Affleck eats animal crackers, hitchhiking is never a good idea, turns out hydrogen bombs are useless in space, tours galore, Keith Richards possibly saved the world, 1993 was a great year for pickle in a pouch, convention life, The Black Crowes, and what does a straight jacket have to do with an audition?
Do you agree with Scott's rulings? Play at home and judge for yourself! While you're at it, send your rulings to our Facebook and pick up 20 points on the Dueling Decades Leaderboard!
