Patrick Andrews on being a "barefoot" lawyer rethinking corporate structures
Dropping your armour
02/14/23 • 60 min
In this episode, Neha talks with Patrick Andrews, a lawyer, facilitator, and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in advising businesses and not-for-profits on their corporate structures and governance. Patrick goes by the description of “barefoot” lawyer, which to him means someone who makes law accessible, meets people where they are, and is connected to the earth. You know that quote from Joseph Campbell that goes “there is perhaps nothing worse than reaching the top of the ladder and discovering that you’re on the wrong wall”? Well, that’s what Patrick discovered in the course of his career and this conversation kicks off by unpacking that story and discovering what led him to finding his purpose. In addition, Patrick shares insights about the future of corporate structures and what it takes for organizations to make the shift towards structures that are more sustainable for their people and the planet. We found this conversation absolutely riveting and we hope you enjoy it, too.
Time stamps:
8.48 Patrick's complete career shift
19.59 What to do, when the road get's rough?
23.39 Patricks new role and purpose
29.00 Looking into the movement of B Corps
44.00 Was the move of Patagonia radical?

Julio Maria Muhorro on integrity
Dropping your armour
11/09/21 • 49 min
In this episode our guest Julio Maria Muhorro, a young entrepreneur from Mozambique and founder of "Sharing Knowledge International" dives together with Neha into the topic "integrity".
Following this energizing conversation, you can learn more about different aspects of integrity on not only societal and organisational levels, but also on a very personal level. After this thought-provoking discussion, we asked ourselves: What does integrity mean to me and how can I leverage it?
We hope you enjoy this episode and these further reading suggestions to join the discourse on integrity.
Julio' concept of individual power is drawn from a number of philosophical and psychological traditions, with a general summary here:

Shruthi Bopaiah on the importance of experience in learning
Dropping your armour
08/31/21 • 42 min
In this episode, you’ll hear the story of Shruthi Bopaiah. Shruthi is the Head of Client Engagement and Communications at Bridgeweave, an AI fintech company. Previously, she was Global Head of Internal Communication at Infosys, one of the biggest IT companies in India and the world. From talent acquisition to HR consulting to internal communications and now to client engagement, Shruthi is constantly learning and pushing the boundaries of her skills and impact. Outside of work, you can find her on the basketball court or at yoga studio, in addition to working hard to create awareness and engagement to care for stray/abandoned dogs. Against the exciting backdrop of Shruthi’s story and how her relationship with learning evolved overtime, we discussed the importance of experience in learning, where the value of the experience is measured not in the number of years, but in its richness. We dove into the advantages of cultivating skills in diverse areas and how those skills can be transferred to seemingly unconnected situations. This conversation with Shruthi made me wonder if it’s time to retire the age-old saying of “jack of all and master of none” because the world needs us in our multifaceted glory!

Timm Urschinger on letting go of control
Dropping your armour
06/24/21 • 39 min
Timm Urschinger from LiveSciences and Teal Network and talk about control and how it manifests in our lives and leadership. We start by following Timm in his life’s journey and along the way, discuss the manner in which our inner world (our needs, motivations, and fear) and outer world (other people, institutions, organizations, and systems) reinforce our need for control. Timm’s experiences of working in a traditional corporate setting as well as leading an organization that prides itself in being “radical self-organized” provide a unique view into how leadership must evolve in sync with the world around us.
I thoroughly enjoyed Timm’s astute observations, his no-bullshit-let’s-get-real way of speaking, and friendly banter - I hope you do too.

Prakruti Nanda on the neuroscience of trauma
Dropping your armour
12/14/23 • 66 min
In this episode, Neha talks to long-time friend Prakruti Nanda, a neuroscientist with a particular interest in trauma and its impact on our brains (as well as the rest of our body). Starting from what was the collective trauma of the COVID-19 pandemic, Prakruti and Neha examine their personal experiences during that time and the underlying processes in our brains that encode trauma. They finish with reflections on how similar processes are used formally in therapy and informally by as all to create positivity in a neurological system seemingly wired for surviving threats more than finding joy.
