You know how important your story is, right?
By story I mean the one you chose to tell yourself about yourself, your work, and your life.
Our story can make or break us. Truly it can!
Whenever we have a hard time shape shifting our story it's time for a new strategy. This is it! You can take 80% of the mindset work off your plate by shifting your body state before you attempt to do the story work.
Say what?!
Yup, a simple shift in your physiology can lead to major shifts in your brain that make mindset work and story writing work WAY, WAY, WAY easier!
I want you crafting a story that strengthens, nourishes and catapults you into a realm of new possibilities and potentialities in your life. If you want this too then give this episode a listen and let me know how it works for you!

Self-Appreciation

11/23/22 • 18 min

The importance of a dedicated self-appreciation practice can NOT be understated. When you engage with it, you'll shift the way you see yourself, others, your work, your value, impact, and your life. It will have you thinking, feeling, behaving, speaking and showing up differently in your life. It will shift the results you see in your everyday life.

If this Thanksgiving season you want to be anchored in an overflow of abundance, good cheer, and love then you will absolutely want to listen to this episode!

Beyond a fun and delightful holiday season...what if you want to capture this all year through? What if you want to uplevel the amount of abundance, prosperity and joy you feel at baseline? What if you’re trying to grow, evolve and usher in more goodness into your life? Then this episode is for you too!

You’ll soon discover why this practice alone can align you with your value and amplify it. After all, what we end up receiving in life is 100% equivalent to our own perceived value. There’s no getting around this one. That perception begins with you!!! Start seeing your massive inherent value and it’ll start being reflected back to you in the form of improved relationships, a healthier body, a stronger mind, more powerful actions and this can lead to a whole lot more money in your bank account.

Seriously, what you want is on the other side of practicing self-appreciation.

Enjoy the show!

P. S. You can catch the earlier podcast of mine, Episode 28 of Dr. Tami Talks where I share why appreciation is a superior practice than mere gratitude, here’s the link: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1938432/11188643

Dr. Tami Talks - Busting Self-Limiting Beliefs
play

11/06/22 • 15 min

The nature of life is that we all have a deep inner urge to evolve, change and grow. A deep desire to become the best versions of ourselves.

The perpetual pursuit of greater growth, evolution and becoming the next version of yourself is the name of the game of life. This means it’ll sometimes feel JUST out of reach...or too hard to achieve...or unrealistic...or not for you. These are all self-limiting beliefs!

Everyone has self-limiting beliefs. I’m still working on my own–and chances are I will be for the duration of my life as I continue to learn, grow, and manifest a life I love. I’ll joyfully be doing this until the day I die.

In fact, some would argue that self-limiting beliefs are THE most important thing to bust through if you want your future to be any better than your past or current life.

So I knew I had to share what I’ve discovered about self-limiting beliefs–it’s radical. The system I’ve uncovered for identifying them and working with them is truly revolutionary–I’ve not heard anyone break it down the way I do here.

I’m inviting you to a leading-edge conversation about how your self-limiting beliefs can be the gateway for your next phase of evolution and growth in your own life.

This is so exciting...I loved this episode so much that I’ve listened to it several times now. I have so much more to say...it’s sparked such a deeper conversation within me. I’ll have to save all that for another time because I trust that this episode is perfect as is.

Happy listening!

Correction: I say in this episode there are 11 million bytes of information coming into your brain via your senses every minute. The correct number is 11 million bytes of information EVERY SECOND. The real number is even more impressive than I originally stated!

Dr. Tami Talks - Mind Management

Mind Management

play

05/27/22 • 17 min

A lot of people spend a lot of time managing their time, money, schedules, tasks, people, situations, relationships, and the behavior of those around them WITHOUT realizing the one thing that creates ALL of those problems can be solved with proper mind management.

I can relate so well to this because I used to be that person. Consumed in the stress and chaos around me and trying to manage all the wrong things–if I’m being totally honest I still fall into that pattern from time to time. It’s funny how easy it is to get caught up trying to manage people, places and things that I need to look within and begin managing the one thing that impacts my life the most and that’s my own dang mind.

My inkling is the same is true for you.

I love talking about mind management because it’s the thing that determines the outcomes in your life and I’m super passionate about you living a truly incredible life.

When I say your mind is your most powerful influence on your life, I’m also inviting you to NOT take my word for it. Go on and investigate this for yourself. It’s actually REALLY important that you do the work to prove this to yourself.

When you prove to yourself how influential your own mind is then you’ll practice mind management in a new way that moves you into a position of authority and gives you so much freedom and sovereignty in your own life.

Listen on to find out how to investigate your own mind and how you can gain access to the full capacity of your own beautiful and powerful mind so it works for you!

Dr. Tami Talks - Turning Pain to Passion & Purpose
play

03/23/22 • 21 min

Let's talk about turning pain into passion and purpose!
This is one of my most favorite topics. This idea can single-handedly change your life. It certainly has changed mine!
Our pain offers us an incredible opportunity to evolve and grow beyond where we are right now. Our collective experience of stress and pain right now is a unique opportunity in the history of us as a species to use stress as a powerful source for evolution and growth.
So often we try to bypass it, we avoid it, resist it, suppress or repress it and deny it's even happening at all. Yet, what's the result of this approach? Nothing good and often loads of suffering occur as a result.
From a biological, political, and social structural standpoint, stress (and pain) have always been the greatest drivers of evolution, change and growth. We need to reconnect to this truth of Nature and then apply it to our own lives. We often times can become so accustomed to stress that we start only seeing through the neural circuitry that aligns with stress. And pretty soon all we see as more and more stress, more and more pain. And then we shut down, right? Because we are a biological organism and all biological organisms are designed to avoid pain and to ensure survival.
Pain and stress are part of an intelligent feedback system that is here to serve us with valuable information. But it's up to us to know how to use it as such. We spend a lot of time avoiding or minimizing pain rather than looking squarely at it, and this makes us suffer even more than the pain itself does.
I think of it as an equation (it's the science nerd in me): Pain X Resistance to Pain = Suffering
Life is painful. There's no getting around this. When we turn towards pain, to see it clearly and compassionately, It's truly an opportunity to reduce our overall suffering in life. And it's taken me a long time to truly understand that the amount of pain that I experienced is nothing compared to the resistance I have around that pain, you know?
Resisting pain is especially prominent in those with strong willpower and grit, and it works against us. For the longest time, I didn't want to acknowledge I was burning out. I didn't want to feel my emotions at all, so I did everything to avoid them and I suffered mightily.
I discuss how painful feelings and emotions can be the gateway for us to fuel our passion and purpose in life.
This is alchemy, in a way. The ability to turn pain into passion and purpose is possible for each one of us and it will require we open to the nature of pain and begin to understand the exquisitely intelligent feedback system that lives within us.
Listen on to find out more!

Dr. Tami Talks - Being Happy Vs. Being Right
play

02/22/22 • 17 min

“I hope you choose being happy over being right.”
This was the last thing one of the counselors said to me as I was leaving rehab, nealry 9 years ago.
Such great advice! Some of the best advice I’ve ever knowingly received.
Wanna know what’s REALLY funny? When I first heard it, I rolled my eyes. I may have even scoffed, perhaps to myself or outwardly, I’m not entirely sure. Upon leaving I shared these same words with others with a giggle and some commentary that went something like, “that’s advice you can expect to get from someone who clearly isn’t used to being right.” 🤦‍♀️
RIght now, I’m laughing at my own naivete. 😂
I was so deeply entrenched in a system of thought that made being right the most important thing one could achieve. My allegiance was so deeply rooted in being right that I was completely willing to forgo my own happiness to achieve it.
Does that sound crazy, narcissistic, a recipe for misery, or familiar?
Today, I’m surrendering the need to be right and I’m 100% willing to choose being happy.
I’m so committed to being happy that I’m willing to not NEED to be right, at all. I still often am, don’t get me wrong (😉) but I don’t need to shove it down your throat. In fact, I’m totally content in sharing my opinion and leaving you to have yours, amicably.
I don’t need to convince you of my rightness, my wisdom, my excellence, my goodness, my intelligence, or anything else. And anytime I feel the need to do any of those things, I know I have my own inner work to do to heal whatever misconception or misgiving is beneath it.
It is my sincere desire to continue giving up every last thread of these tendencies that fuel my need to be right because they rattle my own sweet serenity, peace, and joy. They distract me from my bigger goals and mission in life. They leave me playing tit-for-tat when what I really wanna play is a version of happy feet.
Being right is something my ego LOVES. Being happy is something my heart and my soul NEEDS.
Interestingly enough, we can train for it. There’s 40,000 neurons that surround your heart and you can use it to balance your mind, resource your brain, and restore a state of health to every cell of your magnificent body. In fact, it’s so powerful it’s been called the “heart brain” because it’s impact is rather extraordinary and profoundly fascinating.
And so as I reflect on that advice given to me, I recognize that it is truly priceless. It was worth the $50K+ I paid for it. And here I am, sharing it with you, freely, in the hopes that you will also choose happiness over being right.
Choosing to be happy will serve you for your lifetime whereas being right serves you for mere moments, if at all.
With great love for you and a sincere desire for you to live a beautiful life, I hope you choose wisely.

Dr. Tami Talks - Survival of the Fittest: Fact vs. Fallacy
play

07/02/23 • 23 min

Survival of the Fittest wasn’t even a thing until the 5th edition of Darwin’s On the Origins of Species.

Why is that? What spurred the creation of this phrase? What repercussions emerged as a result of this?

These important questions are explored in this podcast. This episode is important because ‘survival of the fittest’ is a deeply embedded belief that has created an extensive belief system around itself. We become convinced, despite it being false, that human behavior and survival requires competition.

The truth of Darwin’s work is that the ability to adapt to survive as a species requires cooperation and love. This was NOT taught in school. It’s time we knew the truth and started stripping our minds (and psyche's) of this falsehood. I share a couple powerful exercises you can use to begin doing this potent work that will heal and transform your mind and your life-- so you and I and all of us can do better than just survive--we can go on and thrive!

I see each of us thriving as individuals, families, communities, nations, and as a world. That becomes possible when we seek the truth of human nature. It’s time we seek cooperation over competition. THAT change begins within us, within each of us, within me and within you. I’m honored to be on the journey alongside you!

Welcome to part 2 of the conversation on Self-Trust!

In the first episode I talk about why we need self-trust, why we lose it and how to build more of it so you partner with your intuition, inner knowing and from here create a life you truly love living.

In this episode I discuss how to repair Self-Trust when it’s been broken and why it’s imperative that we do so. I share two powerful practices that you can use to restore self-trust when it’s been violated or broken.

This episode is also a deeply personal exploration, where I share my own limiting beliefs and belief systems that erode my own ability to connect with self-trust and I share intimately about how I’m working through them by shifting and expanding my perspective about the origins of the limiting belief systems itself.

This is an intimate and profoundly potent episode that I am deeply honored to share with you, my intention is that it inspires and ignites within you the growth and repair of your own self trust as the gateway to truly creating a life that is a reflection of your deepest dreams and desires!

Self-Trust is 100% required if you’re into creating a life you truly love living.

In this episode of Dr. Tami Talks, I share why self-trust is required, why it’s so easy to lose and how we can reclaim it for ourselves and regain our agency, power, and control to create more meaning, fulfillment and joy in our lives.

You’ll leave here with a renewed skillset on how to re-establish coherence, access your inner knowing, and align with your intuition so you can leverage the massive power that inner congruence gives you to create more of what you truly want in your life.
