The third episode of the Spooktacuar is about The Donner Party! This was a group of American pioneers who left for California in 1846. They took a shortcut known as the Hastings Cutoff, which turned out to be much longer and more treacherous than expected. The group would then get delayed by harsh weather and become trapped by snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains during the winter. As their supplies dwindled, they were forced to make desperate choices to survive, including cannibalism. Only a fraction of the group would survive.
