Tick Talk With Shakin’ Shaner
Don’t Wreck Yourself
08/31/21 • 54 min
Find Shane at:
https://www.shakinshaner.com/
In this episode, Matt and Ryan are joined by Shakin' Shaner from the What's Shakin' With Shaner Podcast, a geek centric podcast that dips its toes into the strange and absurd. Ryan opens up the discussion by attacking Matt and Shane's conclusions from Matt's guest spot on Episode 11 of What's Shakin' With Shaner. Then they discuss a geologist's theory that the Great Sphynx at Giza is actually about 5,000 years older than everyone thinks, before moving on to an r/nostupidquestions topic that seeks to know how the government would deal with a real life Joker committing acts of terror, giving Shane the chance to flex his nerd muscles by introducing The Comics Code Authority, a very real life governing body that DID deal with the Joker, Batman, and every mutant or alien who ever slipped their underwear over a pair of tights. Finally, they discuss an image circulating on reddit that shows a tick that seems to have a tick... which segues into a conspiracy theory regarding a mysterious government facility on Plum Island.

Abracadabra! Urine a Baby Race!
Don’t Wreck Yourself
08/24/21 • 46 min
The guys delve into a user question about a common idiom with deep anti-Francophone roots, then they dispel some myth around the magical ability of careless witches. After that, they discuss the health risk and environmental concerns surrounding roadside bottles of pee (don't worry, they tell you how to get rid of it too). Finally, they cross the finish line with a passionate discussion of the sometimes underground sport of baby racing. Spoiler: it's only illegal if you race for slips.

Slinging Rum at the Elephant Bazaar
Don’t Wreck Yourself
04/26/22 • 45 min
In this week's episode, Matt and Ryan discuss whether employers care if you got to the top of the rope in gym class. If you did, then Charlie Kirk suggests you may have been radicalized by the secret message Karl Marx scrawled up there 170 years ago, causing you to foolishly critique the corrupt capitalist system from your fancy high rise penthouse. Finally, they discuss whether a beloved sixty-five foot tall elephant played a part in an Atlantic City smuggling ring.

The Dork Side of the Moon
Don’t Wreck Yourself
03/20/23 • 43 min
Ryan, Matt, and Monica eat their protein pills and put their helmets on before launching into a slew of Moon related topics. First they establish the facts about when exactly it's 4:20 on the Moon. Then they educate some fellow podcasters about the geological history of the Moon and also, sorta, dinosaurs. Then they tuck into a delicious topic, the literal breakfast of champions: the "traditional" astronaut breakfast of steak and eggs. Then they dive into the blackest hole in the universe, r/AmITheAsshole, with a question about whether or not it's okay to opt out of your high school bully's cancer fundraiser.

Shakin' Shaner from What's Shakin' With Shaner keeps Matt's seat warm as he and Ryan get under the hood of Pixar's Cars franchise to figure out what's going on with Lightning McQueen's Finn McMissile. Then they discuss a photoset making the rounds on social media that depicts a surprisingly conventional Fourth of July party in an unconventional place. Then they discuss the mysterious appearance of a Viking runestone in Minnesota, home of the late great artist formerly known as Prince. Finally they finish with a California court ruling that makes a surprising taxological decision.

Ryan and Cap talk about the scientific awards nobody puts on their CV before opining on the state of global drag. Then they blabber about politics and why Donald Trump is racist, and why Laura Loomer is a victim of her own schtick, and how you should definitely vote for Kamala Harris in November. Holy smokes. Don't panic. But if you do feel a sense of panic, that's okay. We're just primates, and evolution hasn't caught up to the demands of civilization. Cut yourself some slack.
