In his sobriety, his creativity began to thrive again. He was inspired to create Recovery Movie Meet-Ups, which uses films about Addiction & Recovery in group sessions to generate robust, transformative moments that can lead to lasting change. The Importance Of Aftercare And Being Informed When Advocating For Addiction Recovery
Parents & Addicts in Need’s Founder Flindt Andersen and Jason LaChance sat down For a one on one conversation to discuss exactly why aftercare is so important and to discuss our thoughts on misguided advocacy. 'Aftercare' is defined as services that help recovering drug-dependent persons to adapt to everyday community life, after completing earlier phases of treatment and rehabilitation. It provides an opportunity to address important issues and problems associated with abstinence and recovery. We also discuss some of our concerns with addiction recovery advocates. We understand that there are many passionate individuals who do care about those suffering from the disease of addiction but they can make misinformed statements as well as not look at, or deeply understand the addict's brain and actions. This includes harm reduction discussion, needle exchanges, homeless advocacy, and the lack of resources to get the individual in need actual treatment.
