This week on the loe podcast I chat with Shunta Grant! Shunta is the founder of the adorable girls accessory brand, Because of Zoe, she’s a business coach helping women move past “busy” and the creator of The Best Today Guide which is a printed workbook designed to help women get clear on what they want and provides a simple three-step process to guide them toward their vision for the future one “today” at a time.

In a world telling women to “hustle hard” and “do it all,” thought leader and business educator Shunta Grant has embraced a unique mission to free women from the overwhelm, tension, and discontentment of a life marked by “busy.”

Shunta teaches women how to embrace their specific dreams, intentions, and objectives in order to live a fulfilled life on the other side of busy by helping them 1) get clear on their vision; 2) set specific intentions for their life or business; and 3) put practical steps in place so that their vision becomes reality.

In this episode Shunta and I chat about why she decided to leave her career as a lawyer to work on her company, Because of Zoe full-time and how you will know when it’s time to pivot. We chat about how she shifted into a coaching roll and why it was so important for her to specifically work with women who got caught up in simply being “busy”, we chat about pushing past the guilt that often comes with saying no AND we dig into her newest product, The Best Today Guide!

Doing Life...Well? - Working Well with ADHD with Alex Gilbert
play

07/03/24 • 55 min

On the show this week I brought in Alex Gilbert to chat all about all things ADHD, specifically as an entrepreneur.

Alex Gilbert is a New Yorker, a mom, a Mets fan, a yogi, and a brunch enthusiast. She also has dyslexia and ADHD. After spending her career working in leadership development, she decided to start a consulting and coaching business that will help adults with learning disabilities and/or ADHD like herself who have been struggling in their careers. Her business, Cape-Able Consulting, was created to help them navigate their day-to-day workloads so that they feel supported and are able to reach their highest potential. Her biggest goal in creating Cape-Able Consulting is to change the stigma surrounding learning disabilities/ ADHD by reminding people what they Cape-able of.

In this episode, we dive into:

How a lack of ADHD resources for adults led her to launch her consulting business.

The first steps you can begin to take to get diagnosed and why it can be difficult for women and POC to get a proper diagnosis.

How she schedules her day as an entrepreneur with ADHD and how she leans more into what she is good at and outsources the rest.

Her advice for better working with someone on your team who may have ADHD.

Doing Life...Well? - Welcome to the Doing Life...Well? podcast
play

06/08/24 • 2 min

I’m so hype to announce the launch of the Doing Life...Well? podcast!

To be honest with you, I have been over the typical conversations around entrepreneurship for a long time now. Do we really need yet another conversation around creating a sales funnel, marketing strategy, or scaling to six figures? I doubt it. What I’m most interested in hearing about is what life is like for women entrepreneurs outside of their business.

How are they parenting?

What is dating like?

How are you managing anxiety and depression?

More importantly, how are you making rest a priority?

Each week, I’ll share candid conversations with inspiring women who share how they manage different aspects of their lives while building successful businesses! The first episode will drop on Monday!

Before you go, don’t forget to subscribe on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!

The Doing Life...Well? podcast is a listener-supported publication. To receive new episodes and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Doing Life...Well? - Managing Your Period Well with Berrion Berry
play

06/17/24 • 64 min

My earliest memory of first learning about a "period" was in the 5th grade when our teachers put the girls and boys into separate rooms and they had us watch a movie on VHS about a girl starting her period for the first time. We were then handed a small bag that included a pad and a pamphlet then sent home. That was it.

It took me YEARS, a terrible menstrual cycle, a few quacky doctors, and a lot of research to learn just how much our periods affect our daily lives. From the way we plan )or not plan) for a family, to the conversations we have, and yes, to even how we run our business.

That's why this week I am so incredibly excited to share with you the conversation I had with Berrion Berry!

Berrion (pronounced berry-on) Berry is a Women’s Health Coach, Fertility Awareness Educator, & founder of Optimize Your Flo. Her work educates, equips, and empowers modern girls and women to embrace their hormonal nature through understanding their bodies and simplifying their wellness routine. Her expertise has been showcased in MSNBC’s Film Periodical and even on some of your favorite platforms like 21Ninety, xoNecole, Balanced Black Girl, The Every Girl and many more. From menarche to menopause, Berrion covers it all and is dedicated to helping women achieve optimal health in every phase.

We cover so much in this episode! Berrion breaks down the different phases of the menstrual cycle, what to eat and how to work during each phase, how we can begin normalizing the conversation around periods, and so much more!

Doing Life...Well? - EP 119: Quick Tips For Reviving A Cold Email List
play

07/09/20 • 25 min

How many times have you been ghosted by someone you were genuinely interested in? You thought everything was going great then BOOM they stop texting you back or answering your calls. And you're left wondering what went wrong. So you move on, you find other people and then all of a sudden they are back blowing up your inbox as if nothing happened. That probably annoys the crap out of you right? Then why are you doing that to your email list? Getting them all hyped up with what you'll have to offer then ghosting them for months only to pop in later to talk about your new shiny project. They are probably just as annoyed.

And yes I just compared dating to your email list because someone giving you their email these days is just as big as giving someone your phone number.

If you have ghosted the subscribers on your email list then today's episode is for you!

So all this month we're chatting about growing your email list. More specifically the ladies in our membership community, The LOE Collective are working to create a 5-day email challenge that they will use to grow their list and build trust with their audience. But there is an elephant in the room that we need to tackle first, what do you do if you haven't spoken to your list in months? If ever?

For one, its ok! We've all been there! But that doesn’t mean that you have to scrap your list and start over. Today I wanted to share a quick process for reviving a cold list!

For this episode we collaborated with noissue! noissue was founded to provide makers, brands and businesses of all sizes access to custom, sustainable packaging. Whether you’re looking for custom tissue paper like we include in our member welcome kits, custom stickers or even tape, noissue’s eco-friendly packaging allows you to provide your customers with an unboxing experience that isn’t tarnished by excessive amounts of non-recyclable plastic.

As a listener of this show, you can get 10% off your noissue order with code: noissuexLOE2020
