Are sending Donuts the new D*ck Picks ?! Asking for a friend.

On this week's episode we sat down with the incredibly friendly Phillip Kouch from GOLDELUCKS donuts. If you didn’t see dick donuts and exploding butterfly donuts on your feed in 2021 then where the heck were you? Goldelucks has 790k Tiktok followers and just keeps rising! Like a big fluffy donut

This episode is exploding with so much heart and wholesome content for those of us that love a story of how you can start a business and build it online to go viral. Phillip’s family migrated to Australia and opened up a bakery (this was seen as success) and he would help out on weekends and in between uni work. These days, Philip is the Creative director of his very own bakery GOLDELUCKS and his mum helps ice dick donuts so he can dedicate time to creating witty and sweet Tiktoks.

“Since our humble beginnings, We have served more than 350,000 customers and regularly been featured as one of the best doughnut shops in Melbourne by publications such as the Herald Sun and Concrete Playground.” (Side note- They also sell Vegan Donuts.)

Phillip strips back the filter on how you build a brand up from the ground (using social media and Ariande Grande to go viral), the importance of outsourcing, gives great advice on how you can take your brand/business idea and make it a success overnight and reasons why your platform online is your brand!

This episode was recorded in Naarm on the traditional lands of the Kulin Nation People.

Hosted by Renee Buckingham and Chloe Perrett.

Phillip manages a very successful donut store/bakery called Goldelucks and has since 2015, when he was in his early 20s. He first got started in digital marketing when he was 16 and had an English K-pop blog. At its peak, he had a team of 30 writers and millions of readers each month. His parents originally purchased a bakery and were going to manage the business but his father became unwell so he stepped up to take on the role (taking a year off uni). Since then he has grown the business to new heights and has had media coverage and attention and a significant following on social media. The business is now set up as a franchise as it has grown from just a bakery.

On the show today Ben talks us through these sagas as well as giving us insight into

Next in our "Re-Influenced" series: here is our No1 UNDISPUTED most entertaining episode of the show for last year.
As voted by YOU! (and us).
Today’s guest @Alrighthey (Insta) and @Alright.hey (Tik Tok) has been our most mentioned content-creator-inspo by other guests of the show so far.
With 5million likes on Tik Tok at the time of this recording, it’s Alright,Hey!
Aka Matt Hey is a multi-platform megastar and content creator and he is both hilarious and incredibly industry savvy.

In this ep he tells us:

  • some of the rates he charges and how it can be different for different platforms
  • why it’s important for us to get more transparency about what we are charging.
  • (Side note: just going to put a little reminder in here that we have started a Facebook group so we can all start getting more transparency to do just that)
  • He tells us about a time he took on a streaming giant
  • He also tells us how he handles the trolls and haters online

So much useful advice and laughter in this one

Australia’s Biggest Glamazon, “Alright, Hey!” has been one of Australia's favourite creators since he started entertaining audiences online.

Welcome to our last episode for two weeks, with today's guest @thrivingonplants aka Cherie Tu. Renee has known Cherie for years and even remembers Cherie asking her for advice on what to charge, back in the day.
Now she’s grown nearly 400k followers and she talks about:

  • how the ‘growing’ has become harder since she first started
  • She also talks really openly about what she charges
  • And why we all need to be having these conversations more regularly

Certainly part of the reason we started this show, Cherie.
About Cherie:
Cherie is a Sydney-based content creator, recipe developer and food blogger who is also a passionate advocate for a vegan lifestyle. She has been thriving as a vegan for almost 8 years and founded the blog 'Thriving on Plants' in 2014. Since, Cherie has shared all of her recipes, tips and tricks on her online platforms to help inspire others to create epic plant-based meals in the kitchen. Many fellow foodies will know today's guest, Amanda, from her awesome Youtube channel, Instagram or from falling in love with her no-filter podcast, To Be Honest. Today on the show she talks candidly about:

  • how she still suffers from imposter syndrome, despite all she has achieved.
  • She also breaks down the way we should all be charging for our content.
  • And she tells us about the pressures you can face when your job is to eat and blog about food all the time.

For someone who still sees herself as a 'newbie' in this space, she knows wayyy more than many of those who have been around for longer.
