Episode 39: DJRD’s ‘We Want The Funk MiX! (Vol.1)’
07/22/21 • 76 min
In the late ’60s, the son of Soul and Rock was born and it would eventually be known as FUNK. The Godfather James Brown and Sly and Family Stone cultivated it and handed it to the likes of George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, and a whole new legion of Funketeers.

Episode 38: BMS My 1982
Welcome my BMS Listeners.
This episode covers more than just a particular year; it covers my specific memory of one of my favorite years for music during my early 20's. Pierre Elliot Trudeau and Ronald Reagan ruled our borders, Steven Spielberg dominated the big screen, and Dallas and Dynasty dominated television. In sports, the Magic Johnson and Larry Bird rivalry was heating up the courts, and I sported a jheri curl to the clubs. For me, it was all about the music, the parties, and the dance halls. So let’s go back in time for an hour or so and try to remember the way it used to be before we took on our current roles of husband, wife, mother, or father.
This Episode will feature, The Gap Band, Evelyn 'Champagne' King, Howard Johnson, Rick James, The Whispers, and many others.
From the Cabbage Patch to Knight Rider, this was 1982.
