Dirt Nap City - The Most Interesting Dead People In History

Women's athletics has changed greatly since the early 20th century. But one fact remains - Babe Didrikson Zaharias was one of the greatest female athletes of all times. She dominated many almost every sport that she participated in - from sprinting, to hurdles, to javelin, to baseball, to tennis, to golf, and she was even a champion seamstress! Babe did it all! But to be a woman and an athlete in those days meant some obstacles and adversity.
Join us as we explore a hero of athletics that may not be as well known as her accomplishments warranted. She had no real rivals during her brief life as an athlete, but her accomplishments helped to pave the way for women's sports as we know it today.

Who Was Satchel Paige?

Satchel Paige was a ground breaking pitcher with one of the longest careers in the history of professional baseball. He was one of the most gifted pitchers in baseball history. He could throw a fastball that was clocked at over 100 miles per hour, and he had a mastery of the knuckleball that was unmatched. But for many years Paige was unable to play in the Major Leagues because of his race. He spent most of his career in the Negro Leagues, where he was a star, playing a brand of baseball that looked quite different from baseball that we know today.

In this podcast, we will explore the life and career of Satchel Paige. We will talk about his early years, his rise to fame in the Negro Leagues, and his eventual induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. This podcast is for anyone who loves baseball, history, or just great stories. It is a celebration of the life and legacy of one of the greatest pitchers of all time.

Is Rock and Roll Dead? (Part 1 of 2)

After a visit to the Rock and Roll hall of fame earlier this year, Alex and Kelly found themselves wondering if today's rock and roll is the same type of music that they grew up listening to...and the answer is definitely "no, it's not." But just because rock and roll is changing and evolving, does that mean that it is dead? In this episode, we explore that question by defining the common elements of rock and roll music, talking about how age relates to our relationship with music, and even listing the worst rock and roll songs of all time.
And because there is so much to cover on the topic of rock and roll, we decided to split this into two episodes. So be sure to check out PART 2 to learn about music, have some laughs and find out if rock and roll is really dead OR if rock and roll can never die!
