In this episode of the different podcast, I talk with Steve Chalke about his new book, A Manifesto for Hope. We discuss how the systems that are meant to help people are failing. We look all the way back to the Beveridge Report, a revolution that laid out how to create social equality through partnership between government, the voluntary sector and local communities. Right at its core, Steve makes plain what needs to happen next, a new form of partnership where decisions are made as close to the ground as possible and describes how transcendence, spirituality and community must be held at the core of a new manifesto. This was an incredibly rich and profound conversation, and the book is a must read for sure.
