Stranding someone on a desert island and making them choose stuff...nah, this hasn't been done before! Here's to being original, now onwards to glory or mediocrity!
One guest...three games that have mattered to them during the course of their life...one game that scarred them (to burn for warmth), and one gaming character companion to share long moonlit walks along the beach and the occasional cuddle (for heat people, for heat).
It could be WEIRD, it could be WILD, and it WILL have crappy sound quality, but, at least it will be short!
To the island!

The first visit to the drive-in and we are joined by Chloe. She chooses three great films for the desert island, one bad bad bad film to be burnt for heat and a big-screen character as companion. Episode one delivers scrapping, dancing, screaming and vamping. Just another evening at the drive-in!

Ever dreamed of strolling through the gates of Disneyland without reaching for your wallet? Richard Bazley knows that feeling well, and he's here to recount the tale from his Devon roots to the heights of animation with Disney to a new-found adventure as a film director.
Richard, an Emmy-nominated animator celebrated for his work on "The Iron Giant," shares the rollercoaster ride of his career with a candor that's as refreshing as it is inspiring. He peels back the curtain on the industry's highs and lows, from the sting of layoffs to the joy of professional triumphs, proving that steadfast devotion to one's passion can truly make dreams come true.
From the golden age of 'Star Wars' to the tactile wonder of practical effects, we saunter through the annals of film, revisiting the stories that have etched themselves into our collective consciousness. Richard and I ponder the movies that would keep us company in isolation, sparking laughter as we debate the cinematic treasures we'd reluctantly feed to the flames for a bit of warmth.
Richard's parting thoughts, steeped in his profound love for storytelling and film, leave us eagerly awaiting the next chapter of his illustrious career, as well as the untold stories he has yet to share with the world.

Podcast Q&A
Why did you start this show?
The show started as a means for like-minded nerd-infused folk to chat about the stuff that gets the blood pumping...you know, like games and movies! It is a passion project that comes from a place where the recording process and the connection with guests is the driver.
What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?
Entertainment, moments of saying 'Yeah, great choice!' or 'No way, that game is terrible, what are you thinking?' Maybe some cool insights into fellow gamers' lives and the things that got them hooked. And over time, a resilience to my own dour northern accent...over time.
Which episode should someone start with?
Dive in with one of the interview pods. Any of the Desert Island Gamer or Desert Island Drive-In ones. Atticus Shaffer was great value and chose a super controversial game to burn for heat, Kiwi in Japan was just a joyful human, and most recently, Richard Bazley gave great insight into his journey to becoming a Disney animator and live-action film director. But hey, diving in anywhere would make me eternally grateful.
Which have been your favourite episodes so far?
I loved every interview pod equally, but a recent recording with Twitch streamer MrSteJ was a total blast! We talked retro games and films and dug into his own ongoing Twitch adventures.
Which episode are you most proud of?
Usually, the ones where I talk less and listen more. I'm learning to sit back.
What is your vision for your show?
To keep enjoying the process from recording to editing, and hopefully giving people a little enjoyable escape from time to time.
What is your favourite other podcast that isn't yours?
Easy. Dungeons and Daddies all the way! Pure unhinged brilliance that never fails to make me laugh.
How did you come up with the name for your podcast?
By basically ripping off Desert Island discs! Or did they rip me off? I guess we'll never truly know.
Tell us a bit about yourself
I'm a Liverpool-born, Manchester-raised, Cornwall-dwelling mid-life crisis in human form. I have a strong nerd heart, a beautiful and beautifully patient wife, six adorable kids, and a collection of D20 dice that would make most adults blush. I believe The Goonies is the greatest film ever made, and Home Alone is not just for Christmas. I'm a screenwriter with a couple of movies out in the wilds, and I refuse to ever accept that I have a face for radio and a voice for ear defenders.
