FIG is on the governance team at Flipside Crypto, a learn-to-earn platform committed to advancing the data insights available in the blockchain industry. He is also a reviewer at Aave Grants, a program that provides grants to projects, ideas, and events that benefit Aave and its ecosystem.
While still in college, FIG became enamored by blockchains, partly due to their trustless nature as well as their location at the intersection of finance and tech. After leaving school he landed a spot at digital asset broker, Voyager, and then took a position as a defi researcher for a hedge fund before finding his way to Flipside Crypto.
At Flipside, FIG helps protocols and DAOs increase their community’s participation in governance. He breaks down the importance of active participation, Flipside’s approach to increasing it, and some of the challenges that it brings.
Turning to Aave, FIG tells us about their small but dedicated grants team and gives us some alpha on what they look for in applications. It should come as no surprise, but transparency is high on their list.
Finally, FIG tells about his love of web3’s pace and vision before leaving us with a spicy take about web3 anonymity.

For this DAO Talk Interview, we are joined by Jango from Juicebox, a programmable treasury for community-owned Ethereum projects.
Back in 2017, Jango was building some small apps and widgets with friends, working a normal full time job to sustain himself, and happened to be rooming with a friend who worked at Coinbase. While he was sharpening his dev skills and becoming exposed to the crypto world, he was also trying to find an easier way to fund the things he was creating. After wrestling with traditional financial tools for some time, he made the switch to smart contracts and the foundation for Juicebox was created.
Jango shares the full story behind Juicebox, how they landed on the name, and how they got their vibey banana mascot, Banny. We also discuss the best use cases of Juicebox and highlight some amazing projects utilizing the protocol. Jango breaks down how the protocol works and walks us through from beginning to end how a project can utilize Juicebox for funding of their own.
We also discuss how the culture of DAOs impact their operations and productivity, the many benefits of not taking yourself too seriously, and how rad and restorative a beautiful sunset is.

Anna Kryukova works on Community & Ecosystem Growth at Celo, a layer 1 blockchain that is building a financial system that creates the conditions for prosperity—for everyone.
As a self-proclaimed “professional at making things up as I go along”, Anna found her way into crypto while doing some freelance marketing and attending early crypto meetups while she traveled. Then when the pandemic hit in 2020 she took the full plunge and got more active in the space, specifically with MakerDAO. After gaining valuable experience contributing to Maker as they decentralized, Anna later transitioned into a full time role at Celo to work on community and ecosystem growth.
Anna gives us the scoop on Celo, including their refi focus and their growing community. Diving into the community side of things, she explains the differences between web2 and web3 communities and the importance of action and participation.
We also discuss the process of decentralizing, on-chain funding, organic content, and the best ways to get started in the Celo ecosystem.

PridePunks is the first CryptoPunk derivative art project, created in 2018 by Tally’s own Dennison Bertram. In this interview, we are joined by Citizen Lev, who handles digital marketing at PridePunks, as well as Lizo, PridePunk’s admin and OG.
PridePunks may be a derivative, but it’s much more than that. With the mission statement of “representing underrepresented communities in web3,” PridePunks is creating a welcoming community for individuals from all walks of life to enter the web3 world. Their most recent mission? Becoming a DAO.

During our discussion, we dive into the details of PridePunks DAO, we talk about the intellectual nature of web3, and we touch on how web3 is changing the world of digital advertising. We also discuss the positive and negative aspects of pseudonymity and what the near future holds for PridePunks.
