Anouk van Dijk is a Dutch choreographer, director and the creator of Countertechnique. In this episode, she talks about the underlying themes in the work ‘Out of the blue’. The performance is a carnival of colour that celebrates the power of the imagination and the resilience to adapt.

She explains some of the rationale behind her movement system Countertechnique and emphasises the power of distraction, the inherent creativity of technique, and she discusses the kind of tasks and tools she uses to feel in the moment. She also touches on longevity and her extraordinary love of dance and dedication to it.

Out of the Blue is a collaboration between Skånes Dansteater, Malmö Opera Orchestra and Malmö Opera Children's Chorus. World premiere at Malmö Opera 4 December 2021.

Chiara Bersani is an ltalian dancer, choreographer, and artist. In this episode she also talks about her work as an activist.

Chiara speaks openly about the traumas of Covid, about being a disabled person during the pandemic’s first wave in Italy. She does not only share her anger as a woman and as a disabled person in the current moment, but also her optimism and the possibility of rebuilding new and better ways for disabled people to be part of mainstream art-making.

In December 2021 Chiara did a residency at Skånes Dansteater as part of the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's lnternational Dance Program. Her work Moby Dick for Spinn Dance Company was performed here in November the same year, as part of our DansFunk festival. During 2022 she will be touring with her most recent work, 'Gentle Unicorn'.

We focus on the transition that dance students make in becoming professional artists, and the role a dance company like Skånes Dansteater plays in supporting and nurturing young talent through the dance apprenticeship scheme. Line Branchereau and Ischa Statie reflect on their apprentice year in Malmö and their hopes for the future.

Erika Silgoner is an ltalian choreographer and dancer based in Milan. She founded ESKLAN in Milan in 2010, which has developed into an international dance ensemble of 10 dancers performing around the world.

Today's episode was recorded last June just as Erika was finalising her new work 'Wild Fellas'. An outdoor summer dance performance which toured extensively around the region of Skåne, meeting audiences in unexpected places amongst streets, parks and squares. Now, Erika is back in Malmö to restage 'Wild Fellas' with a new cast af dancers and adapt the work for indoor venues' ahead of a school's tour and performances in our own theatre as part af our Lunch dance concept.

This episode introduces a new DancePod host: Dario Minoia. Dario and Erika talk about working through dark moments, finding honesty and truth within the work and Erika’s experiences of solitude and silence.

Dancers Samuel Denton, Anette Jellne and Emma Välimäki talk about working with Örjan Andersson, one of Sweden’s most renowned choreographers, and share their experience of dancing side by side with Malmö Opera Chorus on one of Northern Europe's biggest stages.
