Every day, 8 children in Australia are born with some form of Congenital Heart Defect. February is Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) awareness month, so in this bonus episode, Ashley goes through his very personal journey of being a Dad to a HeartKid and all the ups and downs that this involves. From the moment they learnt of his son’s Heart Problems, from a less than subtle doctor, right through to the constant feeling of anxiety and being on edge about the most mundane everyday things, Ashley is honest and frank about the reality and uncertantities that they face, but also the sense of perspective he has gained by being in such a touch situation.

Welcome to the first episode of our brand-new parenting podcast! We add our Dad and Dunce takes to the already over-saturated world of parenting literature and podcasting!

In the trailer we heard from Mark and his lack of parenting expertise so we delve a bit deeper into Ashley’s background in this episode and learn a little bit about him as a parent of two boys.

Ashley doesn’t hold back when introducing Mark to the world of parenting, kicking it off with one of the bigger topics of the day, “should you let your baby cry it out?”. Ashley gives his opinion on what he has found works and Mark tells it like it is from a non-parents point of view.
