For years companies have tried to avoid facing accountability for their lack of cyber security. Unfortunately for them, the increase in cyber attacks has dramatically increased the spotlight on inadequate practices and the SEC is going to do something about it. Similar to what we saw with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, companies are going to find themselves in hot water if they continue to ignore cyber security implications of their actions.
