Podcast Season 2 is live! With Joyce Hagen of Big Walls Big Art!
Curious Kirby Podcast
02/27/20 • 46 min
Season 2 kicks of in a "big" way! In this episode, I interview Joyce Hagen of bigwallsbigart.com (On Instagram @bigwallsbiggerart).
But before the interview, I discuss one of the basics for your social media marketing strategy - keep your viewers on your posts as long as possible. This isn't only to benefit you, but it will also benefit the social media tool you are using, whether it is Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok or even YouTube. The longer you can keep the attention of the viewer, the better for the social network and the more your posts will be shown via the algorithms. Listen to learn a few strategies.

Non-traditional Galleries and Marketing Through Collaboration with Nancy Breiman and Bob Hogan
Curious Kirby Podcast
03/29/21 • 33 min
Nancy Breiman and Bob Hogan join the Curious Kirby team in the Zoom studio to discuss the how-to's of setting up galleries in storefronts, resorts, and other non-traditional marketing opportunities to boost sales and grow an artist's following. These surprisingly effective ways to meet new patrons and art fans require some preparation and collaboration with the businesses that serve as hosts. Nancy and Bob recommend doing your homework prior to approaching the space owner and find these cooperative efforts very rewarding.
Nancy Breiman is an accomplished fine art oil painter with an emphasis on florals following a career with IBM. An Industrial Arts Education major in college, Nancy spent a career in corporate America and returned to oil painting a few years before retiring. Nancy shares her passion for art through volunteering, teaching art workshops, and providing one-on-one instruction in oil painting. Nancy was elected to the Board of Directors with The Sonoran Arts League in December 2020.
After a career in radio and marketing, Bob Hogan shifted his creative focus to acrylic landscape paintings inspired by travels and near his home in Anacortes, Washington. Displaying his paintings in hotels, vacant storefronts, microbreweries, marinas, restaurants, and office spaces, Bob finds new clients with shared interests and insights into the demographics of his fans.

Episode 9! Meet Mary Ellen, Eric and Danielle of Vendvana!
Do you need to be on every social network? Last episode I touted the value of being an early adopter - but that doesn't mean you must be everywhere. But you must be somewhere. Make sure you are using something to bee seen!
I love Rafi and Klee, artists in the Pensacola, FL area. They are not only very informative and helpful, but they have the best personalities! Check out their Youtube (and vlog) and podcast! And specifically the episode when they address about this topic.

Interview with the amazing Rafi and Klee - we touch on community, social media, youtube, websites and more!
Curious Kirby Podcast
04/04/20 • 101 min
Contrary to popular opinion, there are some people out there that are actually working harder than ever before during this quarantined crisis. Of course the health care workers, teachers, grocery store employees, deliveries and post services, etc. But I know a lot of artists that are using this time to produce produce produce. Partly to build inventory but partly to also just give their emotions and creativity an outlet. They just can't help it.
I've also been busy. I've moved all my cyber seminars online, started webinars, am creating an artist resource (coming soon) and started a 3x a week art chat. And I'm interviewing people and producing this podcast.
Actually, this specific episode of the podcast was supposed to come out last week - but kept getting bumped in my to-do list by the next urgent task as well as the huge task that editing a podcast turns out to be.
So I fa-chunked it.
This podcast's interview is with the AMAZING Rafi and Klee. If you haven't heard of them, watched their videos, or listened to their podcast yet - you're welcome. Seriously, I love this duo. And they just released a video on fa-chunking (go watch it, I'll wait) which spoke to me and resulted in this post right now!
So, listen to the podcast and don't forget to join my art chat on Monday and Friday mornings 8Pacific/11Eastern and for Wednesday happy hour at 4Pacific/7Eastern. Morning chats have a topic while the happy hour is open to anything. To join, either message me on Instagram (@curiouskirby or @kirbyplessasart) or join my Curious Kirby Creatives Facebook group.
Enjoy the podcast.
