I’m excited to share this episode with you, this time it’s an interview with me! All about my new book Disconnected, which is out TODAY (January 13th 2022). I did an in person event at BookBar in London, a gorgeous independent bookstore that I recommend you visiting if you are ever in the area, and I was interviewed by the founder of the bookstore Chrissy Ryan. It felt amazing to be in person with people again after launching projects on Zoom for so long. We discussed many themes in the book; how to unplug without going cold turkey, why I don’t believe in guilt-trips or intense digital detoxes and why I think there’s a better way to create a healthy distance with your phone. We discuss our Internet selves, how to stay true to who we are online, what an e-personality is, how to slowly step away from society’s productivity obsession, how to realise when your devices are making you anxious and prompts on how to create space for yourself again. So I really hope you enjoy this conversation, and if you’d like to buy the book, in hardback, audio or e-book I have left the links below in the show-notes. Hope you enjoy, and thanks for listening!

#271 Ann Friedman: What Is 'Big Friendship'?
Ctrl Alt Delete
07/09/20 • 25 min
Today's guest is Ann Friedman, one half of the popular podcast Call Your Girlfriend and now author of the forthcoming book Big Friendship, out this month (July 2020). It is a friendship bible on how to keep each other close.
This book is authored by both Ann Friedman and Aminatou Sow, (Aminatou has also been a guest on Ctrl Alt Delete, episode number #183 if you fancy going back and listening) and Big Friendship is a the story of their own ten-year, complex, loving friendship. They share their highs, lows, and hard-won wisdom with honesty, hilarity and compassion. They've weathered life-threatening health scares and long-distance living - and they know: the most important part of a Big Friendship is investing in each other again and again.
I absolutely loved the book! I think we need to have more honest conversations about friendship and like all other relationships, it takes work.
I hope you enjoy this episode and make sure you buy a copy of Big Friendship! https://www.bigfriendship.com/

#255 Sophie Walker: Let's Change the World Ourselves
Ctrl Alt Delete
04/16/20 • 32 min
Sophie Walker is a feminist activist, founding leader of the Women’s Equality Party, and recently-appointed chief executive of Young Women’s Trust, the charity representing and supporting women who are living on no or low pay. She is passionate about rebuilding society for and with (extra)ordinary women. You can follow her on Twitter under @sophierunning.
Today I'm chatting to Sophie about her new book 'Five Rules for Rebellion' which is an inspiring, five-step journey to incorporating activism into our lives. Featuring stories of new and seasoned activists – including Amika George and Jack Monroe – campaigning on a range of issues from reproductive rights and poverty to the environment and access to education; the book shows us how to see activism not as a series of pitched battles but as a positive, lifelong learning experience. It's all about feeling less full of despair, and more able to channel anger, arm yourself with hope, practise perseverance and connect with others compassionately. She teaches us how we can convert our confusion and impatience into a powerful force for change. Hope you enjoy this episode :) If you did please do leave a review!

Hello and welcome to this special OLIVE mini series — all around the topic of my debut novel OLIVE which is out TODAY! In lieu of a launch party, I’ve decided to release this 4-part series on 4 different women’s varying experiences and attitudes towards motherhood, based on the topics within the book.
The novel centres around Olive and her three best friends, Bea, Cecily and Isla. Bea is a mum of 3 who loves her busy chaotic home, Cecily is newly pregnant feeling apprehensive and excited, Isla is struggling with her fertility and undergoing IVF treatment. Olive knows that having children is not for her and recently broke up with her longterm boyfriend because he wanted to try for a baby and she didn’t — and this book explores the obstacle course of adulthood, navigating key life milestones, and how their friendships grow and change as they each figure out their own paths.
My guest is Clover Stroud is an author and journalist and mother of 5 - who writes for the Sunday Times, Daily Telegraph and Conde Nast Traveller among others. She lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and five children. Her first book, The Wild Other, was shortlisted for The Wainwright Prize. Her second book My Wild and Sleepless Nights — which examines what it means to be a mother — the joy and the wonder, the loneliness and despair which we talk about it all in this episode.
You can order Clover's book here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/My-Wild-Sleepless-Nights-Mothers/dp/0857525905/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&qid=1595429479&refinements=p_27%3AClover+Stroud&s=books&sr=1-1&text=Clover+Stroud
