Today I sit and chat with David Holmes. A voiceover artist who featured as the special guest narrator for Episode 23's "The Terrible Old Man" by H.P Lovecraft. We talk about a lot of things me and David. From his previous career as a theatre lighting designer, to his humble voiceover beginnings as a virtual Glaswegian Toad. From talking about his valuable 3 P's lesson for novice VO's, to his appreciation with vintage pencil sharpeners. There are even some pigeons in there somewhere. It even gets to a point where we're just blurting out celebrity voice impressions that we either can or can't do, so needless to say, we laugh a lot during this conversation. But with nearly every laugh shared, David always has a lesson to share, so you can learn something as well as laugh at something. This is the longest conversation episode so far on the Cryo Pod Tapes and just might be the funniest one too.

In this H.P Lovecraft classic, we listen to a story told by a nameless figure. A story about a certain strange man called Arthur Jermyn. As the title suggests, we listen to the life of this Arthur Jermyn and the peculiarities of both himself and his family. We hear about the family members and their strange unique obsessions with Gods and amazing mystical artefacts located far within the jungles of Africa. We are also told of what this ancient artefact did to the Jermyns, and how they all met their suspicious ends. Almost like they never existed.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft, August 20, 1890 – March 15, 1937 was an American writer of weird, science, fantasy, and horror fiction and is best known for his creation of the Cthulhu Mythos. He is regarded as the pioneer of Cosmic Horror and the Horror of the Unknown who's stories have been a major inspiration behind the existence of many, many Sci-Fi Horror properties of the modern day and beyond, including this very podcast. This episode serves as tribute to his work.
If you feel inclined to do so after listening to this episode, do consider looking into the many other literary works of H.P Lovecraft, with whom, many of the stories we love today, wouldn't have existed.

Debs is a voiceover artist and comedy writer who although has only been in the VO industry for a little over 3 years, as Debs put it herself, she believes to have found her calling the moment she first stood in front of a microphone. As well as talking about Debs' humble beginnings as a VO, we also talk about a whole load of other subjects. Such as the usual tips and lessons she’s learned along her journey so far, our fascination and admiration towards famous audio drama director Dirk Mags, her performance on Cryo Pod Tapes' Episode 21 Lone Orbit by Roger Ley, and the difference between bad script writing and good script writing, delving into detail while using examples from movies like Alien, Game of Thrones, and Transformers. There's that and more in this newest longest episode in Cryo Pod Tapes history, so we hope you enjoy it.

This is the first of many special "Conversation" episodes, a series of bonus interview type episodes where I have a conversation with the Authors and Writers responsible for the stories that you hear on Cryo Pod Tapes, whom there would be no Cryo Pod Tapes without. As well as working Voice Over Artists who have leant their voices to some story episodes.
In this first Conversation episode, I sit and chat with horror writer,
Aaron Lebold who is the talent behind several Cryo Pod Tapes stories including Bloodlust, Thoughts? Stewart and Radio Silence. We talk about his life, his work, and his experiences and inspirations that drove him to write the stories he writes today. Both Aaron and myself share similar passions with how we as creatives, have continued to do the stuff we love to do despite the hardships we have faced with the biggest one being Imposter Syndrome. It's an insightful listen that you're bound to learn a thing or two from, so we do hope you enjoy it.

One of the all time H.P Lovecraft favourites. Dagon tells the story about a mans retelling of his experiences as a WW1 naval prisoner of war who escaped alone, only to find the ocean vanished, along with himself marooned on a mysterious island that has a sinister quality to it. And as he explores his new surroundings, he finds a giant stone Monolith where the ancient symbols carved into it tells a story of some kind of ancient man, that something else finds him, that brings him to madness.
