On November 28, 2012, 26-year-old Emma Fillipoff disappeared from Victoria, British Columbia. Her last known whereabouts were outside the Empress Hotel in the downtown area, talking to the police after an acquaintance called 911 saying she was in distress and needed help. After the police talk with her and let her walk away, she is never seen again.
For almost a decade, her disappearance has garnered media attention and many theories have been developed. Emma's strange behavior, frantic phone calls to family members and disturbing journal entries in the weeks leading up to her disappearance are shrouded in mystery, with very few concrete answers.
To this day, her case remains unsolved and many questions still linger: Was she met with foul play after last being seen with police outside of the Empress hotel? Did she commit suicide? Or did she intentionally disappear for some unknown reason, like to avoid a potential stalker?
If you have any tips about Emma's whereabouts or any information regarding her disappearance, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477), or call the Victoria Police Department non-emergency number at 250-995-7654.

When Stefano Savioli was murdered on Cortes Island, BC, the RCMP offer up very little detail about what happened that night in 2010. Over a decade later, not even an official cause of death has been released leaving a sense of uneasiness looming over the island.

Chantel Gillade was only 28 years old when her life was tragically stolen from her. Her death sparked rumours of connections with a Canadian serial killer, but no suspect has been named in this case, over 2 decades later.

In 2014, a touching photo of 12-year-old Devonte Hart went viral- a young black boy hugging a white police officer among protests for racial justice. It was dubbed "the hug felt around the world" and painted a picture of a socially conscious and loving family. However, what has happening behind closed doors was far from loving and it all begins when Jennifer and Sarah Hart adopt six children and begin displaying snapshots of their so-called "perfect" life on social media. The real story is one of abuse and depravity which eventually leads to a devastating crash off a coastal cliff in sunny California on March 26, 2018- ultimately bringing to light the horror that truly existed behind the cameras.

The Muskoka region of Ontario is usually a beautiful summer destination for cottage owners in Canada, but this week we tell you the story of its dark underside: a side of the community that centers around one family whom many suspect to be responsible for a string of murders from the 1990's.
After 77-year-old Joan Lawrence went missing in the fall of 1998, the Laan family was at the center of rumors and speculation about what could have happened to her. The police investigation that follows unveils what was going on behind closed doors of the Laan family's business dealings- specifically those related to a series of retirement homes they owned in the Muskoka region. In this story, the alleged mistreatment of the residents and their missing pension checks are only the beginning. Could the Laan family also be responsible for this series of suspected murders? Or is there another explanation about what really happened to the seniors?

In September 2018, Botham Jean, an unarmed black man, was killed inside his own apartment by Amber Guyger- an off-duty police officer who mistakenly entered his apartment thinking it was her own. After a frantic 911 call, an investigation into the incident ensues and this high profile case added fuel to the national conversation about police brutality against black people in America. How does an off-duty officer resort to her gun so quickly? Did Amber's pre-existing racial biases lead to this fateful decision? Why did some media outlets find it necessary to slander Botham Jean's name after his death? And how can one of Botham's family members find the strength within them to forgive the killer? All this and more are discussed as we take on a frustratingly outrageous and completely unforgettable homicide.
UPDATE: ** Since the recording of this episode, Amber Guyger's second appeal has been denied and the court has upheld her conviction.**

On September 11, 2001, the entire world changed. The trauma and destruction that occurred in New York City sent shockwaves throughout the world and left thousands of mourning families in its wake. For one of those families, there were more questions than answers and in this episode, we tell you their story.
Sneha Anne Phillip was last seen the day before 9/11 and the circumstances surrounding her last known whereabouts are shrouded in mystery. As the investigation into her disappearance uncovers, Sneha may have been living a secretive double life that no one knew anything about and may have been struggling with many issues at the time she went missing- which is contrary to the perfect life she and her husband seemed to be living. As clues get uncovered and more mysterious information is revealed, the debate remains: Did Sneha die in the 9/11 attacks like thousands of others? Was she met with foul play the night before the attacks? Or, did she use the 9/11 attacks as a cover in order to escape and live a new life elsewhere?

In part I of our season 2 finale, we discuss the high profile Madeleine McCann case- a case which is still highly debated and unsolved to this day.
The McCann family was vacationing in Praia Da Luz, Portugal in May 2007 when their three-year-old daughter Madeleine was abducted from her bed while her parents were at a restaurant with friends only feet away from Apartment 5A. Shortly after her abduction, the Portugal police begin an investigation into the missing toddler only to quickly zero on three major suspects: An interpreter named Robert Murat ( a British man who injects himself into the investigation in an attempt to help locate Madeleine) and the girl's own parents Kate and Gerry McCann.
In part one of our discussion, we talk about the circumstances and timeline surrounding her disappearance and the events directly following the abduction. Also, we take a look at these three major suspects who were given official "arguido" status in the early stages of the investigation and how the police's tunnel vision on these two possible scenarios may have distracted them from other leads that could have been much more promising.
Our discussion and dissection of one of the world's most high-profile missing person's case is one you don't want to miss!
