Hello and welcome to Crime & Spirits, where your hosts teach you about true crime, spooky stories, and how to make a great cocktail. In July of 2014, Conrad Henri Roy III tragically died by suicide. He was only 18 years old. Per Massachusetts Law, police began to look into his unattended death. Law enforcement then uncovered thousands of text messages sent to and from Michelle Carter, his friend/girlfriend at the time. This case concerns two mentally ill teenagers and the consequences of their actions. In the weeks before Conrad's passing, Michelle started pushing him to carry out his plan; the tone of these messages became quite aggressive over time. This led the police to eventually arrest Michelle and deem her culpable in Conrad's death. The question then became: Do words have the power to kill? This week for sipping along we're mixing up a "Brass Monkey." Not a drinker? That's okay! Make yourself some coffee or grab a bottle of water. It doesn't matter what you're sipping along with. Hello and welcome to Crime & Spirits, where your hosts teach you about true crime, spooky stories, and how to make a great cocktail. We're diving into the unsolved murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey. This case is as sad as it is intriguing. Unfortunately, 27 years later, we're no closer to solving it.

On the morning of December 26, 1996, Patsy Ramsey discovered a ransom note that demanded an oddly specific amount of money in exchange for the safe return of her daughter, JonBenét. Law enforcement is immediately notified, leading to a chaotic crime scene investigation.

During this episode, we will explore the events that led to JonBenét's discovery, the 27-year-long investigation, and popular theories surrounding the case.

Our cocktail this week is called the "Raspberry Dream."
