About Our Guest, Art Bell:

Art Bell is the author of the memoir: "Constant Comedy: How I Started Comedy Central and Lost My Sense of Humor". Meet musician Colin Stetson the composer for the new movie "The Menu", starring Ralph Fiennes. Stetson masters the art of melding his multi-instrument mastery into one incredible score. Colin talks all things business and being a music maestro.

The score for The Menu is an evolution from any other score Stetson has done in the past. The string-forward and percussive music uses grotesque soundscapes and motifs to mirror the psychosis of the main character (Ralph Fiennes).

As the narrative builds, Stetson creates unique musical moments, some given only at a specific time and place, and others that weave a thread throughout the film. Rather than creating character themes, he created a theme for the menu that interacts with characters, giving the menu a sense of self; an off-kilter pretension that instigates discomfort in the listener.

The film’s concept allowed Stetson to use eccentric and experimental instrumentation: playing glasses with chopsticks, hitting tuning forks on Tibetan bowls, using pans as percussion; making the score fit the environment while keeping it separate from the diegetic sounds of the kitchen. He uses his own undulus vocals which clone the full orchestra of strings.

“From my first reading of the script to our last moments on the mix stage, my experience creating the music on this film has been an absolute joy, as the themes, refrains, and aesthetic have seemed to jump right off of the page and screen for me with every brilliant turn of phrase, perfect edit, and wickedly delivered performance. It is pure pleasure working with such an incredible team and I am truly grateful for the whole of it,” says Stetson.

A couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travels to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises.

Meet Jeff Griffin:

In the realm of motivational speakers, few stories are as captivating and inspiring as that of Jeff Griffin. His life-changing accident left him paralyzed, but instead of succumbing to adversity, he emerged stronger and built a remarkably successful life. Recently, he graced the set of the popular podcast "Mediacasters" to share his incredible journey, touching on the concept of "dream weaving" and the importance of not making excuses.

Jeff Griffin's Tragic Accident and Resilience

Jeff's life took a dramatic turn on a fateful day when he was involved in a devastating accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. It was an incident that could have broken anyone's spirit, but Jeff chose a different path. Instead of dwelling on the past, he focused on rebuilding his life and finding meaning in his circumstances.

From Tragedy to Triumph: Jeff Griffin's Path to Success

As a guest on "Mediacasters," Jeff recounted the transformative journey that took him from a place of despair to becoming a beacon of hope for countless individuals seeking motivation. His story resonates with people from all walks of life, as it exemplifies the human spirit's strength and resilience.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Jeff refused to let his paralysis define him. Through sheer determination and a positive mindset, he pursued higher education, earning a degree in Communications and a master's in Business Administration. These accomplishments became the foundation for his eventual success as a motivational speaker.

Dream Weaving: Creating a Life Beyond Circumstances

One of the key concepts that Jeff discussed on "Mediacasters" is "dream weaving." For Jeff, dream weaving is the art of creating a compelling vision for one's life and working tirelessly to turn that vision into a reality, irrespective of the obstacles in the way. He passionately advocates that everyone has the power to dream big and weave their path to success.

Jeff's journey perfectly illustrates dream weaving in action. Despite facing the daunting challenges of physical limitations, he remained steadfast in his pursuit of personal and professional growth. He emphasizes that setting audacious goals and consistently taking action towards them can create a life filled with purpose and fulfillment.

The Dangers of Making Excuses

Throughout the podcast interview, Jeff Griffin underlined the detrimental impact of making excuses. He acknowledged that it is natural to face adversity, but letting excuses hinder progress only perpetuates a cycle of stagnation. Instead, he encouraged listeners to confront their challenges head-on and search for creative solutions.

Jeff's own life serves as a testament to the dangers of making excuses. Despite the immense hurdles before him, he refused to use his paralysis as a reason to give up. His story encourages others to abandon self-imposed limitations and embrace a mindset of relentless determination.

Jeff Griffin's appearance on "Mediacasters" was nothing short of awe-inspiring. His tragic accident, instead of becoming a roadblock, became the catalyst for a life of remarkable achievement. Through dream weaving and refusing to make excuses, he crafted a path to success that continues to inspire and uplift countless individuals.

His story stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the transformative power of a positive mindset. Jeff Griffin, the paralyzed motivational speaker, is an embodiment of the fact that with determination, dreams can be woven into reality, and adversities can be turned into stepping stones toward greatness. As we leave this podcast episode, we are reminded that it's not our circumstances that define us, but how we choose to respond to them.
