Hey friends, this is Timothy Kimo, Brian, head instigator for "Create Art Podcast" and your guide to the podverse for "Find a Podcast About." I recently attended the Empowered Podcast Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I wanted to share some key takeaways and insights from this enlightening experience with you all.

The Journey to the Empowered Podcast Conference

Attending the Empowered Podcast Conference was an exciting endeavor. I usually attend the Indy Pod Conference in New Jersey and have been to DC PodFest in the past, so this was a new experience for me. Thanks to a 20% discount code shared by Alex Sanfilippo from PodMatch, I decided to make the five and a half hour drive to North Carolina. The drive was pleasant, filled with beautiful weather and a slew of podcasts to keep me company.

First Impressions and Connecting with Fellow Podcasters

Upon arriving at the Hyatt in Charlotte, I checked in and immediately gravitated towards the communal table on the second floor, where conversations about podcasting were already underway. Meeting the conference founder and various podcasters felt like reconnecting with old friends. Being around people who share my passion for podcasting was a rejuvenating experience, despite my family sometimes growing weary of me mentioning the word "podcast" countless times.

Setting Intentions: A Unique Approach

The conference kicked off with a unique session on setting intentions, involving a guided visualization exercise to help us focus on our goals and what we wanted to achieve from the conference. We were provided with journals to jot down our thoughts on what we wanted to embrace and let go of, which was a first for me at any conference. This session helped frame my mind positively for the rest of the event.

Networking and Learning

An exciting part of the conference was the opportunity to meet Alex Sanfilippo from PodMatch, who gave an insightful talk. One of the highlights for me was how the entire event was woven around the theme of intention and authenticity, especially relevant as my goal is to foster community growth within the podcasting sphere.

Defining Intention

To define what intention means, intention is a plan or goal aimed at achieving a specific purpose. For me, intention signifies clarity and purpose, especially in the context of my podcasts. My key takeaway was the need to be clear about our intentions and how we can be of service to our audience and guests.

Refocusing and Building Community

During the conference, I reflected on my purpose for both "Create Art Podcast" and "Find a Podcast About." My goal with "Create Art Podcast" is to demystify the artistic process and encourage people to engage with art meaningfully. For "Find a Podcast About," my aim is to help listeners find high-quality podcasts efficiently.

Practicing What I Preach

Consistency, genuineness, practicing what I preach, and building community are now my key focuses. This means not only creating art and listening to more podcasts but also connecting with my guests and maintaining those relationships. I want to build a network where people feel connected and supported.

Personal and Professional Growth

On a personal level, I aim to continue improving myself physically, mentally, spiritually, and artistically. Professionally, my dream is to create a podcast network for the federal government, ensuring that accurate information is directly accessible to the public. To achieve this, I plan to join relevant professional organizations and continue learning and networking.

Conclusion

In closing, this conference reinforc...
