This week James and Courtney interview Rashari Henry founder of The Stath Blog about his entrepreneurship journey

Rashari Henry joined us on TCU to discuss starting a sports blog with absolutely no background or experience in blogging. We wanted to know how he managed to do it and he shared everything he knew with us.

Rashari gives a lot of credit to Serena Gill and Alex Galli for being two of the driving forces behind the Stath Blog. He talked about managing expectations and tactics he uses to eliminate procrastination by his writers. He shared with us his pain points when managing a team remotely and how he overcame them. Rashari is very knowledgeable when it comes to social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. He gave us advice on how we can leverage their analytics to help us build a bigger audience. We asked the founder of Stath Blog to take us into his war room and describe how he would motivate his team to attack the New Year when they relaunch. Listen to this episode to learn how Rashari built a sports blog from the ground up leveraging his network and overcoming obstacles.

This week James and Courtney talk about what didn’t go so well and what went well in 2017 for Team TCU.

We want to send a very special thank you to our audience and all our listeners.

The Come Up: Steps to Success Podcast started on June 23rd, 2017. In 6 months were able to hit 2027+ downloads. We owe that first-year success to everyone that listened and subscribed to our podcast.

Our first year was full of ups and downs. Lessons that we could only learn by committing to this process of podcasting. One of the major lessons we learned was that consistency is the key to growth. We shared with you our mistakes when launching TCU. Our continuous growth led us to upgrade our microphones, and because of our increasing commitment, we "paid to play" by purchasing professional hosting to deliver longer episodes and better-embedded players.

What Didn’t Go Well
Lack of research before launching episode 1
Waiting two weeks to release episode 2
Conflicting schedules

What Went Well!
Switching to Buzzsprout
Upgrading our microphones to the Audio-Technica ATR 2100
Bringing on ambitious guests that included authors, athletes, artists, and entrepreneurs.

Our Favourite Episodes from 2017

1. Episode 24 - “Mindfulness” - Overcoming Anxiety, Stress, and Much More with Madeleine Eames

2. Episode 1 - Creating an Elevator Pitch

3. Episode 21 - Realize your potential with @tobiaji

4. Episode 11 - Life After Football Entrepreneur with @TFT_fitness

5. Episode 16 - How to Create a Podcast

6. Episode 19 - The Brand Building Entrepreneur with @mr.koa

What to Expect for 2018?
We are going to provide more valuable content for you in 2018. Starting with TCU Quick Wins. We are also going to be bringing a more Star-Studded line up of interviews which includes MORE Authors, MORE Athletes, MORE ARTIST, MORE professionals and MORE entrepreneurs, to share their tools, resources, and lessons that they learned on their journey.

OUR GOAL FOR 2018
We need your help spreading the word. We want to hit 20,000 downloads in 2018. To do that we need you to share your favorite episode with a friend, a family member, or a colleague. Help us reach our goal by subscribing to TCU!

You don’t want to miss out on whats coming in 2018. Make sure you Join TEAM TCU! @ https://www.thecomeuppodcast.com

This week James and Courtney interview @apolloplease about his entrepreneurship journey.

Apollo joins us at TCU headquarters to discuss his career path as an up and coming radio personality.

A natural to conversing Apollo shared with us his story from Brampton to Vancouver. Finding his passion for music and radio, and returning back home. We asked Apollo about overcoming obstacles while pursuing a career in the radio industry. He talked about working on his skills before getting the opportunity to get on the air.

Apollo shard some advice
I don’t think I have accomplished the amount of success that I want to... But I have checked some goals off my list of things. Some actionable steps that I would suggest to anyone who is looking to do what I am doing

6 Tips by Apollo P
1. You have to live life as if there are no obstacles
2. If you are going to do something, do it right... don’t find shortcuts, don’t half-ass anything. Commit to the damn thing!
3. Once you start something, see it all the way through... envision something and see through with your action and time, but also mentally envision yourself at the finish line. (Have a checklist to keep track your success)
4. Concentrate your energy on one thing and focus on that one thing... doing too much will make that slip away from your goal.
5. Invest in yourself so you know it’s real. If you aren’t willing to go broke on yourself don’t expect anyone else to.
6. Look towards complete strangers as your way to success... your friends are your friends, but they are not your way out. “

We also discuss other major tips for success that Apollo used to create opportunities for himself such as:
Filling his toolbox with skills.
Learning to concentrate one ultimate goal.
Laying groundwork and building an audience.
Finding your own voice and filling a void in the market.

Listen to this episode to learn about Apollo’s superpower.

The Key Points

1. Everyone starts at the same level of unconscious incompetence when learning a new skill.

2. A teacher, coach, or guide is instrumental when progressing towards conscious incompetence.

2. Repetition is a great way to reach the final stage of unconscious competence which is mastery of a specific skill.
