Corpus Delicti - 124: Listener Choice: Jennifer Schuett
play

04/20/20 • 44 min

Today's story is about one of the bravest children we've ever had the privilege of hearing about. Jennifer Schuett was abducted straight from her own bedroom in the middle of the night when she was only 8 years old. Her abductor slit her throat, and left her for dead in the middle of a field. There she lay for almost 24 hours before she was found. And she was ALIVE! Not only that, this little girl gave it everything she had to help police find the man responsible.
Special thanks to Chastity for recommending this case!

play

11/27/19 • 50 min

This week in our series featuring women who kill, we discuss a mother with such a strong influence over her son she convinced him to kill with her. A lifetime of scheming and conning people turned sour when people started calling Sante Kimes out on her actions, and she decided they simply had to go. Her reign of terror resulted in at least three deaths.

Well guys, this is it! Our very first (maybe last? Who knows!) live event! We are eternally grateful for Melissa and Mandy from Moms and Murder for joining us in this adventure. We bring you the story of Lynda Lyon Block (that's Lynda with a Y, as Melissa is sure to point out), an extremist who met her match in George Sibley. The two were on the run from an assault on Lynda's ex husband when they came head to head with a police officer in a WalMart parking lot that eventually led to their capture.
THANK YOU to Wild Roast Cafe for hosting this wonderful event. If you're in the Birmingham, AL area, please stop by and support them.

We've talked before about the rarity of a serial killing couple where the woman calls the shots, but this week we bring you the story of Suzan and Michael Bear, who are just that. The two started their own cult with one follower, but this follower suffered a brutal fate.

The last story in our Dark Water series is just as heartbreaking as the rest of them, but does provide somewhat of a resolution. A mother of 3 goes on a cruise and is found dead in the cabin of some other passengers. She died of a lethal dose of drugs and alcohol, but was there more to it than that?Today's sponsor:Lawhorn Counselinglawhorncounseling.comMusic by:Kai Engel"Daemones"This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Killer Psyche is a new weekly true crime podcast from Wondery that explores the minds behind infamous killers and criminals. They cover high-profile cases that have shocked the world, and host Candice Delong uses her five decades of experience as a clinical psychiatric nurse and FBI Criminal Profiler to dissect the motivations and behaviors of the most terrifying felons in history. In a recent episode, Candace examines the mind of Ed Gein, the notorious murderer who inspired the movies "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho."
