This week, we venture to one of my favorite wineries ever. I love Larkmead and have been a huge fan since the first time I tried it 15 years ago. We are very fortunate to welcome Larkmead's winemaker, Avery Heeland. She joined the Larkmead Vineyards team in July 2019 after positions as Cellar Master at Screaming Eagle Vineyards in Napa, Vintage Assistant Winemaker Domaine Yves Boyer Martenot in Meursault, France, and as a Vintage Enologist at Capel Vale Winery in Western Australia. Heelan holds an M.S. in Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry, with a specialization in Viticulture & Enology from the University of California, Davis.

I am still amazed that this weeks guest on the Cork & Taylor Wine Podcast would even spend 1 hour with me since he is all over the place aka Pitbull would be calling him Mister Worldwide. Another great chat with Carlton McCoy who is doing great things. One of the youngest to ever gain Master Somm status at 28 years old, host of CNN's NOMAD where we giggle about skating on ice for the first time (I giggled being Canadian as we are born on ice) and we talk about hitting the Napa wine scene by storm as Lawrence Wine Estates acquires Heitz Cellars, Stony Hill and Burgess Wineries. Great chat about his journey with a side of laughs!

We talked with 5 winemakers/vintners out of Napa and Sonoma to get a true taste of the 2020 Harvest. Fires wrecked havoc on the vineyards and winemakers await patiently to see if their grapes are smoke tainted or not. In this episode, we get a first hand view from David Ramey, Tom Meadowcroft, Michael Keenan, Robert Foley and Tor Kenward. This episode is one not to be missed.

We head to the Big Apple to sit down and talk wine with Chateau Smith Haut Lafite Winemaker, Fabien Teitgen, from this famed and renowned Bordeaux winery. Fabien is our first French winery professional on the Cork & Taylor Wine Podcast and he represented well! We talk obviously about Bordeaux and what makes it such a unique wine growing region along with Chateau Smith Haut Lafite purchasing Napa's Flora Springs in 2020. Teitgen also talks about the 2020 vintage which was delightful to say the least.

We headed to the Big Apple to try the 2020 vintage of Bordeaux at the UGCB trade tasting. Wow is all that I need to say and the 2020 vintage is stellar to say the least. I go over my most memorable wines of the tasting and some new favorites along with some old favorites. My wine cellar should be happy!
