Conscious Construction - From Intensity to Intimacy with Holli Laffer (Enneagram 8)
play

01/10/19 • 61 min

This episode is brought to you by Canyon Voyages in Moab, Utah and all my other fabulous supporters on Patreon!

Today I sit down to chat with my good friend and fellow 8, Holli Laffer. Holli shares about her growth through the Enneagram, engaging with her own religious trauma, and learning how to soften around her experience.

Here's more about Holli:

Holli grew up in Mobile Alabama. She’s moved around the USA but now calls Nashville home. Currently, she is studying the narrative tradition with the Enneagram and training to become a Yoga instructor. Holli loves grappling with the numerous ways in which the mind and body are interconnected. She has a profound desire to better understand the ways in which trauma affects our lives and how confronting our deepest truths can unlock the person we were meant to be. When she’s not studying the enneagram or yoga she loves hiking the Greenways of Nashville with her dog Fancy and her husband Justin. Oh, and she’s very very much an 8.

play

12/20/18 • 48 min

This episode is brought to you by Canyon Voyages in Moab, Utah and all my other fabulous supporters on Patreon!

In today's episode I sit down with my good friend Cat Donohoe (who is also one of my co-hosts of the South Austin Enneagram Meetup) to talk about her life, her work, and what it's like being an Enneagram 7!

Here's some more about Cat:

"I help people who think they should be happy all the time but are worn out from carrying around hurt or stress and are afraid to be vulnerable.

I support them by guiding them to grow in self knowledge so they can take the next step towards being the best version of themselves. I know from my own journey that understanding yourself and becoming aware of your own motivations, coping strategies, and relationship patterns helps you relate better with others and promotes personal healing.

I believe therapy can be beneficial for anyone who wants to transform their life, that's why I hope you take the next step to connect with me. Reach out to me via email or give me a call for a free phone consultation. Evening appointments are available."

Conscious Construction - Adventure of Self-Discovery with Jennifer Knapp
play

09/06/18 • 84 min

In this week’s episode, I have the extreme honor of sitting down with singer songwriter and Kansas native, Jennifer Knapp. We talk about her coming out process and the choice to return to the public eye after years “underground.” We also talk about her adventures in self-discovery and how the Enneagram can help!

Here’s more about Jennifer:

Jennifer Knapp is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, author, and advocate. Her impressive history includes selling over one million albums with her first three releases Kansas (debut 1998, Gold-certified), Lay It Down (2000), and The Way I Am (2001). She has earned four Dove Awards and two Grammy nominations. The Kansas-born musician has toured the globe with artists such as Jars of Clay and was featured on the Lilith Fair Tour in 1999 and again in 2010. Knapp has received critical acclaim for her human approach to the divine, with the Los Angeles Times calling her "a rising star" and People Magazine describing her as "an uncommonly literate songwriter."

With a considerable fan base and critical and commercial successes, Knapp walked away from music in 2002 at the height of her career. After a seven-year hiatus she returned in 2010 with a renewed passion for music showcased in her album Letting Go, which debuted at No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart. Set Me Free followed in 2014 on Righteous Babe Records in conjunction with a memoir, Facing the Music: My Story, on Howard Books/Simon & Schuster. Her 2017 album Love Comes Back Around, produced by Viktor Krauss, pairs her fearless songwriting and strong, expressive voice with rootsy arrangements.

As the first major artist known by the Christian music world to speak openly about LGBT identity, her unique position has created opportunities for dialogue at churches and universities through her organization Inside Out Faith and on the TEDx stage at University of Nevada.

A true Renaissance woman, Knapp recently completed a master's degree in theological studies from Vanderbilt Divinity School.

Today I have the honor of sitting down with the total badass who is Emily Joy. We talk about her yoga journey, poetry performance, sharing her #metoo story and creating #churchtoo, and of course a hefty dose of the Enneagram.

Emily Joy is a spoken word poet and yoga teacher RYT 200 whose work and writing lives at the intersections of faith and sexuality, embodied justice, and spiritual deconstruction. Emily has released two studio albums of spoken word poetry, and travels the country performing and speaking at schools, conferences, churches and festivals. She also teaches yoga every week in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Her work as the co-creator of the #ChurchToo campaign exposing sexual abuse in faith communities has been featured on websites such as Time, Teen Vogue, The Huffington Post, and more.
