Coming Off The Reels

This week is another one of our Patreon listener request episodes. The movie in question, In the Mood for Love. A rare movie that none of us had seen before, but one that still managed to reach each of us. It was definitely a more serious film than we are used to discussing on here (we’ve done not one, but two Wishmaster films), but we think we rose to the occasion.

This week we discuss the documentary from Soleil Moon Frye, Kid 90. Initially we believed this to be a doc that would scratch that certain nostalgic 90’s itch that we have from time to time, and while it succeeds it doing that, it is also a deeply personal, tragic, beautiful, and uplifting story. Tears were definitely shed while watching this one.

So if you haven’t watched this one yet, stop what you’re doing, it’s available on Hulu, watch it, then listen to us gush over how powerful this film is.

Almost 15 years after it was released. a couple of us watched Spike Lee’s Inside Man for the first time, while a couple of us revisited it for the first time in many many years. We all had praises and criticisms, which is unusual on a show where we all normally dig end and defend one side or another.

When is the last time you watched this one? Thoughts? What should we watch on one of our movie nights? We will take your suggestions, we’re mostly open to new stuff.

I think we all knew the day would come when Bob Odenkirk would become an action star. At 58 years of age, and thanks to Nobody, that day has finally arrived. Sometimes we leave make you listen to an episode to find out how we felt about a movie, but this time we will just say that we all loved it, you should go and watch it if you haven’t seen it, then circle back around and listen to this episode. It’s just the kind of movie we all need right now.

I know it’s been awhile since this one came out, but maybe that mean you’ve had plenty of time to sit down and watch this movie that really lives up to the title, Godzilla vs. Kong. In the past, this franchise has really divided the four of us, so this monster mash up really had a tough audience at COtR. There are some complaints, but maybe not from the person you’re thinking of.
