Love in action is listening to understand, not to react. This is not a podcast about discussing spiritual deconstruction, reconstruction, contemplation or The Bible. There are numerous podcasts that do that...we know because we love and listen to them constantly. Our intent is taking all that we know and believe at the time and live it out in a conversation while sitting at a literal or figurative table. We won't shy away from a topic or person and we aren't going to have an argument or debate. Here are those conversations. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected]

Come to the Table - Humanity Is with Uzma Jafri & Zaiba Hasan
play

08/03/20 • 104 min

When I was given the chance to interview Uzma Jafri and Zaiba Hasan, the hosts of the Mommying While Muslim Podcast, I jumped at the opportunity. After listening to the podcast, finding out I grew up 4 years apart and in the same school district as Uzma and getting the chance to talk to them my perspective is no longer the same. This conversation and their spirit are why podcasts go beyond a place to learn stuff. You get to hear the hearts and minds of your fellow human beings.

You can find the Mommying While Muslim website and links to their podcast and videos HERE.

Thanks to my friend and supporter of the show Eric Nevins for the introduction.

This episode was recorded and published during the COVID-19 Pandemic and published during it.

When Meg & Mike Glesener's son headed off to college out of state they never imagined they'd end up in a medical tug-of-war with the state of California. He suffered from encephalitis which is an infection in the brain that he got not once but twice. This is a conversation about the journey to bring him home.

You can listen to Meg on her wonderful podcast Letters From Home here. She has been an incredible supporter of the show and our host Sean McCoy. We are eternally grateful for her heart and action!

Come to the Table - The Gift of Life with Amy-Gray Cunningham
play

10/08/18 • 72 min

What would compel someone to donate one of their kidney's to a complete stranger? What are the truths and myths about being a living donor?

I was introduced to Amy Gray-Cunningham through my friend Anastasia Lipske from Access Speakers. Amy is a living kidney donor and felt a direct calling from above to give one of her kidney's to a total stranger. Join us as we talk about her journey and find out that despite the extraordinary act Amy, and anyone else who can donate a kidney, is just like you and me.

You can find a link to Amy's book here about her experience donating a kidney titled Daring to Believe. It's available in both hardcopy and on Kindle.

Come to the Table - Faith in Finance with Alexander Lowry
play

08/28/18 • 79 min

Alexander Lowry felt a twinge of motivation after seeing years of financial scandals and poor ethical choices. Instead of sitting on the sidelines and talking about it with his peers he created Gordon College's Master of Science in Financial Analysis degree program to provide not only a hyper-focused Graduate level education but to infuse Christian standards and ethics into those who take the course.

Here's a link to a great video where Alexander talks about numerous currencies used by various countries and their attributes for Condé Nast Traveler. https://youtu.be/35QklHVFCH4

Come to the Table - Enemies Unseen with Charles Kirk
play

01/15/20 • 81 min

Charles Kirk served in the US Army and during his time he was deployed to many places including Iraq. While fighting to protect his fellow soldiers and friends there was always a good chance the enemies he was fighting would become clear. What he wasn’t prepared for was those he would have to fight that could not be seen. He not only fought that fight as well but took it to social media to encourage others to seek help. That act inspired this conversation.

Special thanks to my old colleague and friend Mark Vose for liking Charles’ post on LinkedIn which led to me seeing it and reaching out to him.

You can find Charles’ post on LinkedIn HERE. God Bless him for his courage.

Come to the Table - The Value of Patience with Patty Pantazopoulos
play

07/08/19 • 76 min

My friend Patty Pantazopoulos and her husband Tasos started a bakery/coffee shop called Anonymous Cafe in 2017. Less than a year after opening it was voted Best Bakery in Texas in an article by Buzzfeed. Despite incredible success in every way they had close their doors at the end of 2018 and find a new way to reopen. A year and a half later there is finally a light at the end of the long tunnel. We have a conversation about what kept them going during this difficult time, the incredible response(s) of their legion of loyal customers and just exactly when we can expect her mother’s amazing Eckmek to FINALLY be available again!

Find Anonymous Cafe’s website here.

What do you do when your friend's son commit's suicide? How do you come alongside someone just found out they have cancer? What do you do or say in the shadow of tragedy?

This book gives all who read it a fighting chance to truly come alongside and help, not hinder, those lost in a sea of misery and chaos. Join us as we dive deeper and further into what it means to come Alongside those in need.
