38 - Ephesians - 10/29/2023 - One In Christ: A Modern Day Ephesians Story
Colonial Presbyterian Church
10/29/23 • 45 min
On Sunday we had the opportunity to witness One In Christ. Meghan Connors and Neil Getzlow have overcome their past lives through God’s unlimited grace and unconditional love, and now minister to others.
Meghan has educated law enforcement, healthcare workers, probation & parole employees, court advocates, direct support advocates, and others about how to identify, understand, and respond to human trafficking from her unique vantage. She’s received awards for her work and achievements, a scholarship was established in her name, and she is the first recipient of the "Meghan Connors, Be the One" Award.
“You can all be involved and do something with what your gifting is, we just want you to learn more about what trafficking actually looks like, because it’s not the same as what you see on social media and in movies, and then figure out how you can get involved in the KC area.” -Meghan Connors
Neil’s world was shaken up by God when he was blackmailed by a prostitute on a business trip. This ultimately led Neil to unmask all of his sexual sins to God and to his wife, Amy. Thanks to Jesus, Neil and Amy rebuilt their marriage, putting God in the center. Now, three years later Neil is a speaker and author of a book. Neil and Amy want to share their story, helping people who might have the same struggles.
“We’ve got to help men turn the finger of blame from ‘Out in the world and whatever’s causing that brokenness’ to pointing the finger back at themselves, so they can begin to heal and figure out what in their heart is creating that. To be able to get past that addiction or whatever it may be, that starts with this Body/the Church.” -Neil Getzlow

Whispers Of Норе: The Wayward One Who Never Strayed - Hosea 11:1 - Pastor Jeff Sparks
Colonial Presbyterian Church
12/29/24 • 31 min
This sermon uses the story of a homeless man seeking reconciliation with his estranged mother as a springboard to explore the book of Hosea. The pastor parallels the mother's conditional love with God's unconditional love, contrasting the son's need for transformation rather than mere change. Hosea's marriage to Gomer, a prostitute, serves as a parable of God's unwavering faithfulness to his unfaithful people, Israel, ultimately culminating in the arrival of a savior who offers redemption. The sermon emphasizes that humanity's inherent sinfulness necessitates not self-improvement, but divine transformation through Jesus Christ, a message particularly relevant during the Christmas season. The overarching purpose is to offer hope and reassurance of God's relentless love to those feeling distant from Him.
