What you’re creating is unique in the podcasting space. Your podcast is more business focused than a hobbyist independent podcast but it shares the heart of those projects. It also is not as salesy as the network or big corporate podcasts either, although it often shares a business topic and focuses. Neal and I dig into these differences some more in order to help figure out these nuances of what you’re creating.

When we get your voice out you take on a certain responsibility. No matter how much success you have with the podcast, listeners will automatically value what you say more because it’s in media. It’s an odd fact of podcasting (and I’m sure other public media) but it’s true. What you say and more so who you talk to and about in your podcast holds a lot of weight. So it’s good to calendar time to review who you include in your podcast so you can be as inclusive as possible.

You've created a podcast to attract more of the right fit client for your small, passion led business, right?
This is why focusing on how many downloads alone for your podcast is not a productive way to assess podcast success. Downloads are the tip of the iceberg. I have a hunch that your call to action, downloads and business leads have a strong connection AND that when we reframe what success looks like for your solopreneur podcast, your KPIs will change too. Here's how and why it's different for your solopreneur podcast compared to other podcasts.

Live audience member Caitlin had an audio question that fueled a variety of possible solutions from our podcast editor community. A lot of this conversation happened in LinkedIn comments after the live recording so I’m adding them to this episode, along with the original day 6 episode.

Creating a weekly or even every two week show while running your solopreneur business can be exhausting. The trick to juggling this well so you can actually have fun AND attract the right clients is to plan. I'm not talking a complicated spreadsheet plan but more a back of the envelope plan. In this quick 15 minute live episode I'll share a method I've used for years on how to plan the outline of my podcast for an entire year in just a few minutes. Today I’m stepping back and admitting that I need to do something different. Yes, again. This is my selfish creative month so HA, I can do this daily if I wish. No seriously, it’s healthy to admit when you outgrow a project, no matter if it’s been a few days, week, months or years.
🔥In the behind-the-Stack (premium) section I’ll be sharing one of the best ways to learn and grow on Substack. And a few funny moments.

🤯 You don’t have to do it all!
As passionate folks we often think that we have to do it all ourselves. I’m here to assure you that you don’t. If you need help editing, managing or promoting your podcast (with Substack or YouTube), reach out. We can have a quick chat and see if we’re a good fit. Worse case scenario we meet. And isn’t that lovely!

Yesterday we talked about how to practice so that you could reduce the use of filler words but it felt like there was something missing. That something is the admittance that it’s excess energy that often makes us use these words. So it’s time to share some tips and tricks that you can do to embrace that energy surge and put it to good audio branding use!
