42. Black-Owned Beauty Brand's Mission To Empower African Communities Through Gender Equality & Sustainability With Alaffia CEO & Founder, Olowo-n’djo Tchala

Clean Beauty Scene

If you shop at Whole Foods, Sprouts, Target or Walmart you have likely seen these wonderful fair trade products on the shelves. It is one of the first clean lines that I tried back when I first began my green journey and it remains a favorite. You'll find Alaffia products all over my home! Even my family likes them which is saying something because my boys resist my eco freako ways.

Not only is Alaffia making high quality clean, earth conscious skincare accessible, CEO & Founder, Olowo-n’djo Tchala, a Togolese native is making a powerful impact on a global level for social justice shaping the future of business, sustainability and philanthropy. He has been empowering and giving back to communities in West Africa for nearly two decades through the fair trade of indigenous resources and community empowerment projects.

Alaffia is a sterling example of social responsibility from every aspect. This is seriously one of the most meaningful conversations I have had on Clean Beauty Scene. We discussed many important issues.

Creating a sustainable economy and providing jobs for women in Togo is one of Olowo-n’djo's top priorities. Alaffia has directly improved the lives of over 250,000 individuals in Togo. Proceeds are returned to communities in Togo to fund community empowerment and gender equality initiatives, such as maternal health care, education, reforestation and regenerative agriculture. Olowo-n’djo explains how the ingredients they use benefit and nourish your skin but also how they are ethically sourced and why that is incredibly important. You are going to learn a lot from this conversation, I know you'll enjoy it and be inspired.
