William Lustig is one of the biggest names in horror. During his teenage years, Lustig avidly watched a huge volume of lowdown trashy exploitation fare at numerous 42nd Street grind house theaters in Manhattan and also worked as a movie theater usher in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
After graduating from high school, he took a few film classes at New York University.
Lustig began his film career in his mid to late teens, working behind-the-scenes in various minor production capacities on a handful of hardcore X-rated porno pictures as well as a production assistant on both "The Seven Ups" and "Death Wish." He made his debut as a director, producer and editor with the hardcore porn features "Hot Honey" and "The Violation of Claudia." Lustig directed both of these movies under the alias Billy Bagg.
In 1980, Lustig found himself at the center of a storm of controversy when he made the grim, gory and disturbing slasher sleaze splatter landmark "Maniac," which boasts an incredibly intense performance by the legendary character actor Joe Spinell as a vicious depraved psychopath and plenty of hideously graphic and gruesome make-up effects by horror genre icon Tom Savini.
In 1982, Lustig followed up "Maniac" with the tough, gritty and exciting New York urban revenge opus "Vigilante." In 1988, he delivered another winner with the terrific "Maniac Cop," a violent horror action flick about an undead New York police officer on a killing spree which was the first of several cinematic collaborations with fellow maverick independent filmmaker Larry Cohen.
Lustig followed up with the 1989 stirring action item "Hit List" and the suspenseful serial killer thriller "Relentless". He cites Maniac Cop 2 as his best and most enjoyable moment in his filmmaking career and served as a fantastic follow-up to the original. In 1997, he directed his final movie with the massively overlooked 'Uncle Sam' which is a must-watch for horror and slasher fans alike.
Since 1997, William went on to initially produce retrospective DVD documentaries for Anchor Bay and now currently runs the outstanding DVD label Blue Underground which restores and re-releases popular and little seen cult movies and other grind house action, drama, and horror films.
During our conversation he gave many fascinating stories about his movies and career, some great advice on following your passions and also talks about horror and movies in-depth.
Check out Blue Underground releases.

In this week's episode, we get the chance to hear from one of the modern-day masters of horror... Adam Robitel.
Adam has delved into every single avenue of the filmmaking industry, from starring as Lester alongside none other than Robert Englund to writing, producing, editing, and directed his debut feature film The Taking Of Deborah Logan which has since become a massive cult classic.
In 2015, he was brought on board to rework the screenplay for the huge blockbuster film - Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. He continued his extremely successful streak by returning to the director's chair for Insidious: The Last Key in 2018 and the hugely popular Escape Room in early 2019.
Based on the hugely positive response to both movies, financially and otherwise - Adam is returning to direct both Escape Room 2 (2021) and Insidious: The Dark Realm.
Adam has a refreshing and positive yet grounded outlook on the filmmaking process and life in general. He tells some real-life stories of his family experiences with the paranormal, including the use of a Ziriya board. We also get into some actionable advice for aspiring writers, directors or anyone with a creative mind.

So if you are a true horror fanatic, you've probably matched up many of your horror icons against each other and argued with your friends about who would win and why.
Well in this mini series I'm going to dive into some of the horror movies, sequels and crossovers that were either considered or in production at some point but never came to life!
This episode I take a look at a fascinating horror franchise, while we might not be able to call it a franchise as most the movies aren't connected in any way other than featuring the killer leprechaun it has still made for some great horror movie moments,
While I go through these unmade and proposed sequels featuring the little guy on the hunt for his gold, it's hard to believe that some of these movies were never made considering we got Lep In Space and In Tha Hood.
Keep an eye out for some of your fav horror icons for crossover movies... Can you guess which ones? Even an amazing idea from the original creator Mark Jones.
