The nostalgia-inducing Pittsburgh mall is being demolished after closing its last shop in 2020 and being condemned in 2023. Writer, publisher, and shopping mall enthusiast Matthew Newton is here to share our nostalgia and explain exactly what went wrong.

What Happened to Adda Coffee & Tea?

After employees announced a new union last week, Adda Coffee & Tea immediately closed all four locations. Employees say they were blindsided; the owner says the shops have been losing money for years. We’re sharing what we’ve learned and our favorite alternatives for where to get your next cup of coffee — plus a few fun restaurant and store openings we’re excited to check out.

The Monroeville Convention Center is becoming a massive Hobby Lobby, and municipal leaders are really worried about the economic impact from an abrupt loss of business. And former Adda Coffee & Tea workers withdrew their NLRB complaint after management offered severance. Plus, we’ve got a bunch of free resources for folks who need help preparing their taxes.
